Lol Mooring snatchers! I bet that was fun. I bet you also came to realize your anchor is a bit less drama.
@WickedSalty9 жыл бұрын
Len Farneth less drama and we've seen some pretty bad mooring balls on our trip. I think I'd rather rely on some ground tackle that I know works!

You probably sleep well on the hook now but there are aps for android (I'm guessing for apple too) that alert you to drifting.

Enjoying the vids. Try not to arrive at night, if you have a long day leave plan to in the dark and arrive in the light and take note of arrival features. Always have 2 or 3 safe anchorages for the route 1 or 2 shorter the intended one and then if things go well a farther one. Trouble comes when you push. Unless allowed, and it is allowed in some places, taking mooring freebies is frowned upon, I certainly wouldn't broadcast it on youtube, kind of like filming yourself lifting a candy bar at Walmart. Guilty!
@WickedSalty10 жыл бұрын
Thank you. We always leave at O'dark thirty for the most part, before sunrise and we have ducked out in some cases for an anchorage shorter then expected. This late in the season there are fields of empty moorings everywhere. I would hardly say its comparable to theft of actual merchandise, especially when you are at the will of an unknown mooring tackle rather then your own ground tackle. To each his own.

Hears a tip for condensation, put x2-x3 layers of cling film over the windows leaving a 1"-2" gap inbetween,that stops warm air from hitting the cold window, then forming condensing into H20. :)

Don't know if you have this but it's always good to have an spare anchor ready to deploy on a minutes notice. Should you find yourself dragging or adrift for some reason. I kept mine mounted on the stern pulpit w/160 ft of road, ready in a minutes notice. Good to see you mak'in some distances. Great video! Thank for sharing.

We have a spare fortress anchor for sure! Unfortunately there is not space to keep it on the bow, and it is already weighed down so much with the 22 lbs delta plow anchor and 60 feet of galvanized steel chain. But it is readily available in the port cockpit locker. Thanks for the comment sailing solar!

That's almost normal here on the Columbia River. I remember the storm in 2007 when the winds began gusting to 155 mph. I had to crawl along the docks so as not to be blown off with an jack line.

I like your Safety Mesh but don't understand why you keep your "boarding gates" open when underway, especially with that cute lil' Mini-Yorkie on deck. And the Islands up the coast (except SAN CLEMENTE, U.S.NAVY USES IT TO SHOOT AT) Great place to see; would be "Alamitos Bay" Long Beach, take your dingy through "Naples"" canals"... Get ahold of Tom Poe.....He would help you find stuff.

I was trying to foul hook one and live line it off the boat, however I needed a sturdier rod at the time cause the flex in the one I was using wasn't working with it. I wasn't sure on the regulations of catching herring in NY, but I know in MA it's a big no no unless its a mistake and you let them go well. I don't think the stripers were hitting the lures next to them because there was so much live food there too. Lola's a cutie for sure!
