Alan, what a good video of you and wave rover making the long passage on Long Island sound. Your workman like handling of heavy traffic, current, and the not so friendly fall cold weather show how well suited you both are for long passage making. The average 21 foot boat and owner would have required three stops overnight. Wave Rover must have a easy motion underway and its wonderful that the Mk3 can handle the work while under power. Thanks For Taking Us Along

A delightful scene … sunrise at sea under sail with the Mk 3 dialled in … magic! PS: It appeared to me that there was a small issue with the leech on the bottom panel … is the sail OK? Hold Fast! ⛵️🇨🇦🙂

Does this mean you've managed to tune the MKIII to steer under full sail now 🤞, I know you were having issues with that in earlier videos, perhaps you can do a video on what you did to tune it? Great video as always👍
@RoversAdventure Жыл бұрын
It is fixed. The issue was with the attachment points of the trim tab. I will show how I went about it. But that video won't be out for several weeks.

Beautiful sailing weather and Wave Rover looks stunning. I've made that trip many times in late fall going south. Timing the East River is everything for an enjoyable passage. One thing that would concern me is the lack of good "long" cabin top hand rails for going forward in rough seas since the junk rig has no stays to grab and there's no safety rail. You know the saying ..."if its gonna happen, its gonna happen out there" ! Do you run a centerline jack line when it gets nasty?
@RoversAdventure11 ай бұрын
Yes to the Jack line

Your sail is truly a thing of beauty, but I've noticed that the bottom "panel" of the sail, between the boom and the first batten, seems to be always slightly rumpled near the trailing edge (leech?). Could the sail be trimmed so that the panel uniformly fills out, or does the sail cloth just need time to stretch into shape?
@RoversAdventure11 ай бұрын
I should have hoisted the sail another 3 inches

Mr. Rover in the bow does not have handrails, he would have to have a safety harness at all times when going forward when anchoring or lowering sails, etc. Greetings

Question for any sailors that see this: What's the best time of day on a boat out of sight of land on a long passage? I would imagine sunrise would be people's favorite, but I would love some opinions.
