I highly advise you to visit the Center region, Which is known to have many Châteaux (Chambord, Cheverny, Chaumont, Amboise). Everything around Val-de-Loire is beautiful. The Sologne is in the same area and you can find many small roads, trails to walk or to bike in the forests. So so many things to do and see around you will not regret it ! There's also a cute little island on the west coast called Yeu, which is less touristy than other ones. Bordeaux is an amazing city and all the surroundings as well. If you do love wine there is a wine festival happening every two years, next one will be held in June 2020. St Emilion is not so far and a really nice place to visit. I would recommand if you go to Bordeaux again to visit those places : Darwin / Casern Niel, Les vivres de l'art, La cité du vin, Iboat, porte cailhau and the streets around, food market Les Capucins, cinema Utopia and streets around, place des quinconces and the theatre, have a picnic along the quays... The music day that happens every year in France on the 21st of June and it is quite incredible in Bordeaux. I miss so much this city full of creativity, good vibes, sunny !!

Ah France, love this video so much. We're planning to do a huge roadtrip through Europe soon, I'm particularly excited to go back to France (my wife has never been). Stephen - in response to your comment, I can't say I've seen the whole country, but some personal favourites I reckon you should visit; Giverney (especially Monet's house and gardens) Le Touquet Bayeux Mont St Michel Rocamadour (and the whole of the Dordogne, in truth) Amboise La Rochelle Bergerac (not so far from Bordeaux, my old boss lives a bit north of there, the whole area is stunning) Saint-Émilion Carcassonne Gordes Saint-Rémy-de-Provence However, you could probably just get in the car, drive until you get tired or hungry, then stop and find somewhere amazing by accident. France is a bit like that... :) Bon voyage!
