I use an AirMini for travel and love it. My last cruise, I was able to place it in the drawer next tot he bed and keep it there the entire cruise. I would just pull the hose out and use it then place it back in the drawer during the day and it worked perfect and kept the area looking nice during the day. I find that it is great for travel on planes and even car travel because of it’s size. If you can afford one of these it is well worth it if you travel much at all.

I got my res med cap machine a year ago and have taken it on two cruises. MSC and Princess were both very accommodating about supplying me with free distilled water. My new machine is relatively compact but not as small as your travel cpap.

@Let's Go! Travel Tips - Thanks Gordon for the tip on the ResMed AirMini. I had a Philips Dreamstation Go that had been recalled due to a manufacturing defect. I requested a refund on the DSGo from Philips and replaced it with the AirMini as a travel CPAP before my last cruise and it's been great! A little noisier than my home CPAP (Philips Dreamstation) but far more portable and no need for distilled water.

Thanks for the information. My wife and I are frequent cruisers and I've just been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. As soon as I can get into our local Sleep Center for a fitting, I'll be buying a machine, and probably the AirMini. One more thing to pack, but not as big as the bedside machine, again thanks.

Gordon. Can you program your pressure setting. Does it ramp or just go to full pressure
@LetsGoTravelTips2 жыл бұрын
Yes, from the app, you can set the pressure setting. And you can have it either ramp or full pressure. I prefer full pressure. Also, it has an auto-start feature. If it senses you breathing, it turns on, so you don't need to fumble for the on button.

what's your pressure? is the sound bearable? you could use regular mask with an adaptor...
@LetsGoTravelTips Жыл бұрын
I think it's set to 13 or 14, can't quite remember. I have an adapter, but haven't done anything but use the little mask that came with it and am pleased. It does have more air rushing sound that a normal mask, but it's NOT bad. It's more of a nice, white noise. The unit itself really has no sound to speak of, so it's very bearable! Good luck!

Getting ready to go on first cruise..cruise line says they will have an adapter for me, but would that include the Airmini. I think I should’ve have my own. Thank you. I did subscribe
@LetsGoTravelTips Жыл бұрын
No, you do not NEED the app. There is a large button on top of the CPAP for on/off. I just like to put it on and then start to breath, and it has the auto-start.

A question, when I first got my original cpap 13 years ago, I was told by the supplier that it had to be "calibrated" by the doctors prescription and then when it was replaced after 8 yrs, again I went to supplier office where my original was and again told it too had to be "calibrated". So, how is this one set up to my rx?
@LetsGoTravelTips7 ай бұрын
There is a setup mode to the app so you can set the pressure.

Is there a wall outlet behind the bed (or under it) in Enchanted Princess cabins? A usb port WILL NOT power an AirMini, so the USB plugs in the lamps won’t work.

Hi Gordon! Great video. Was wondering about the noise level. I have heard that the travel machines are noisier. Is this true? Thanks
@LetsGoTravelTips2 жыл бұрын
It seems slightly noisier, yet it's more of a white-noise, so it's not annoying. Allison has never mentioned it being too loud for her to sleep; probably because it's quieter than the alternative of my snoring. 🤣

Hi Gordon! Any issues in using the machine overseas at a hotel? Did you need a converter or is the CPAP dual coverage? We will be going on a cruise in Asia but plan to stay a few days in Japan at a hotel.
@LetsGoTravelTips Жыл бұрын
The power adapter for the CPAP is dual voltage so for Europe you only need an adapter for the rounded plugs. I used it with no issues when we traveled in Europe last year and earlier this year. Japan is nearly the same plug size and voltage so there should be no issue there as well.

I was wondering do you have to have to have Internet so you can Bluetooth or not when you’re on a cruise ship? Also, I was wondering is there an adapter where I can use my own mask and hose without a oxygen thing?
@LetsGoTravelTips Жыл бұрын
I don’t need oxygen when I travel as I am at sea level. I live at 4500 ft elevation, so I need O2 at home. Internet is not necessary for a Bluetooth connection so it works fine and communicates to your smartphone without internet connectivity. Look carefully at the hoses. The connections are specific to this CPAP but you can find adapters to older CPAP hoses easily on Amazon.

Do you need a prescription for this machine and where do you pick it up at
@LetsGoTravelTips2 жыл бұрын
I had my doctor send over my current prescription (be sure they include the pressure setting). I did not need a new sleep test. And we just used the standard medical store we've gone to for years. You can also get it online directly from ResMed. Again, my insurance did not cover it as a secondary CPAP, but I'm OK with that since I really wanted the convenience of its size. Thanks for watching!

Check with your CPAP supplier. This app is specific to this CPAP and called AirMini. There has been one introduced for the ResMed CPAP, but mine is too old and doesn't have bluetooth for connectivity. Maybe I'll replace it in the next year or two (when my insurance will cover it, as my main CPAP) 👍😎
