Another great vid from Respshop. I started CPAP therapy a almost 6 years ago. But I travel a LOT - over 13 weeks a year (sans COVID). About 6 months after I started CPAP therapy I loved it but I determined that dragging my AirSense 10 all over the country every month was a pain and I bout the Mini. My wife also is under CPAP therapy and does a lot of international travel so we share the device. Ours has been to 3 different continents with various power adapters. It's about to go to Lima Peru in September. It probably has over 5,000 hours on it. Fantastic machine. Last year I had knee replacement surgery and had to stay overnight in the hospital. I took my Mini with me. The respiratory therapist at the hospital had never seen one before! She thought it was great!! Humidification: I agree with the vid, you have to pay for the HME filters. I typically travel only a week at a time and I use one each trip and consider that a part of life cost. My wife has done 30 days on one filter during a trip to Europe. Not cheap but worth it and you don't have to find distilled water. Tubing: There is now an adapter so you can use standard tubing and any head gear / mask you want but I don't recommend it because you cannot use the HME filters. Noise: It is a little noisy. In a hotel room I typically throw a hand towel over it and make sure it can breathe. That seems to muffle the noise. But I also have tinitus so I usually have the room AC fan on to block out the noise. Price: It is expensive and insurance, if you have it, generally will not cover the cost for a travel machine (at least in the US). But for me and my wife - not having to drag around a standard machine and having to try and find distilled water is priceless. In our minds, it has paid for itself just in that. Interface: I like the smart phone interface. Unfortunately there is no way to combine your data from your AirSense 10 or 11 into one online account so when your sleep therapist or pulmonologist reviews your ResMed on-line data there will be gaps so you will need to let them know you used the Mini for travel for those gaps. [I specifically corresponded with ResMed in Australia and they confirmed there was no way they could combine the info into one on-line data set.] If you do use it for travel - especially international - be sure to check the air filter! When my wife got back from Europe a couple of years ago, after 30 days the filter was nearly gray/brown and it was new when she left home. A lot of the places she stayed allowed smoking. 😞 If you get one I know you will enjoy your Mini for travel!

Excellent video overview! The only thing I would change about it is the claim that the “difference in sound is minimal” or the claim that it is “still a very quiet machine” (at the 9:00 minute point). The difference in sound is far from ”minimal”, it is a VERY noticeably different (louder) compared, for example, to the ResMed AirSense 10. You WILL hear this loud whooshing sound right under your nose, from the diffusing vents around the compartment where the HumidX cartridge (which provide the humidification) is housed. Removing the HumidX cartridge makes no difference. Now, I have gotten used to this loud whooshing, but it took a long time for me to adjust to it. Also, if you sleep with a partner/spouse, be aware they will also notice that the AirMini is much louder than the Airsense 10. Something to consider.
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. The difference in noise is based on mask and pressure settings. The noise varies patient to patient. I ended up purchasing the mini and i have to say I adore the simplicity of this little beauty, not having to boil water every night to fill up the humidifier is wonderful. It started out a little noisy however I've found placing a folded towel beneath it reduces the noise and does placing it below the bed on the floor. I'll see how I still feel closer to the 30 day guarantee from Resmed. My sleep lab advised me to change the filer every 3 months however you're suggesting every month, is that correct or should i just check the colouring of the filter throughout the first and second months?

Even the S10 on dc power, dc to dc, uses only 15W max with no humidifier. This uses the same pump, so the wattage is 7 to 15 watts. You are probably converting a battery to a.c. and then back to d.c. which is silly. Use a dc to dc converter, I do. 12v to 24v converters are $30.

Great video. I was considering this unit for travel plus daily use, but now I have some doubts. Is there a machine that you would recommend for daily use plus travel?
@RespShop11 ай бұрын
Thank you! We don't recommend using a travel CPAP as an everyday machine b/c it's louder and the motor isn't designed to work every single day for years like a home unit. If you want to know every reason why it's not a good idea, we have an article: kb.respshop.com/can-i-use-a-travel-cpap-machine-full-time/ The article also goes over important features to look for if you're set on using a travel cpap everyday. Personally I'd recommend the ResMed AirSense 10 or 11 for daily use and travel. They're really not that big and if you fly, you can bring the CPAP bag as a carry-on in addition to your personal item and carry-on. For the AirSense 10, you can remove the water tub and close off the gap that's left behind with a side cover to make the machine smaller (if you don't use the humidifier at all/don't use it when you travel). If having a small machine is very important, I suggest getting a good solid home machine for daily use and then pick up a travel CPAP when they go on sale. Breas Z2 auto travel CPAP is good if you need a quiet machine and APEX XT Auto Travel CPAP is very affordable (but louder).

@blackrhino44 I traveled internationally 10 days with the air mini and found it to be a useful c-pap & very convenient alternative to packing the larger unit requiring distilled water. I used the recommended moisture disk & didn't have any dry mouth issues or sinus issues. It does create more air noise than the home unit, but not to the point of preventing falling a sleep. Other than the $900.00 cost plus buying extra accessories, I really don't have any other significant complaints. It's portable travel size & ease to operate makes it a great alternative over taking the larger home unit plus needing to locate smart water since it's impossible to find distilled water when traveling.

Since I have the same mask (N20)and standard hose on the Rez med 11, I was able to try different combinations. There was a substantial noise reduction in using my standard Res med hose and mask, it was also a significant noise reduction by replacing the inline humidifier and proprietary mask, keeping the standard air mini hose. I haven’t seen anyone comment or try this, but it does work! Night and day difference.

I haven't put water in my regular CPAP's reservoir for years and I occasionally travel. I'm wondering if I should get a travel CPAP and just use it all the time without installing the humidification disk.
@RespShop3 ай бұрын
It's best not to use a travel CPAP full time because they're not designed for full time use. We actually just released a video last week about this! Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zn2wdpx9eZykgMk

Went way too fast over the potable power option. Isn’t there just a simple battery we can buy?
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
We recommend the Zopec Universal Smart Travel Battery, weighing at 2lbs it is a multi purpose battery and can give you anywhere from 10-16 hours of CPAP use on one charge.

The problem with the noise is not from the device itself but from the air hose connected to the mask… where the air is expelled…
@RespShop10 ай бұрын
Hi, yes unfortunately the airflow noise is a problem for some users. We made a video that goes over the different accessories that can help dampen the noise. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGPCop5peb6kprcsi=EdpzExVnvMUqdNuW If you're using the tubing adapter, use a standard 22mm instead of a slim 15mm tubing. Also, putting the AirMini lower than your head seems to help some users too (even though the noise is not due to a loud motor).

I’m returning my air mini, the noise from the humidifier is unbearable and the humidifier does not provide enough humidity for me.
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
I am sorry to hear that! Travel machines aren't for everyone due to the humidity and noise. Some patients find benefits in using the airmini tube adapter, vcom, and using a heat moisture exchanger. does anyone use it as their every day device?
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
There are some patients who use the Airmini as full time unit. Just a reminder the unit itself is much smaller than a full time unit. Which means the motor will be much smaller. Most full time units will last you up to 5 years. The airmini life span may be less than that if using it every day. Thank you for watching! We hope you enjoyed our video. Sound is 30 DBA. A bit louder than a full time unit, due to size there is not as much sound proofing around the motor. Thank you for watching! If you enjoyed our video please don't forget to Like and Subscribe for more CPAP and Sleep related content.

@@RespShop Is the Mini using the same tube or buoyancy as the AirSense 10?
@RespShop10 ай бұрын
@@djpaceeuro Not sure what you mean by buoyancy but I can answer your question about the tube. The AirMini doesn't use the same tube as the AirSense 10. It uses the AirMini Tubing which is a non-heated 15mm hose with a special end connections. The AirMini Tubing can only connect to the AirMini and to AirMini-specific CPAP masks.

Does sleep apnea cause male pattern baldness?
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Some research in this area has suggested sleep apnea can lead to baldness. Sleep apnea can cause thinning of hair. The reasoning is very similar to how a lack of sleep can cause hair loss as it affects hormone levels. This would be best consulted with your Dr. Thank you for watching! Luckily my machine makes no noise. My finance says she can’t hear a sound either. In fact I didn’t believe it was on at first. My only question is the exhaust vent. On my full size machine there is a constant airflow from the tubing bend/exhaust port. I feel no exhaust air flow from this at all.. anywhere.. is this normal?
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
The air vent is where you connect the humidx capsules to the hose and mask. Tiny small air vents. Not as noticeable as your full time device.

Hi, i use the airfit f30 mask with my lumis 100 can i use this with the air mini ❤❤❤ EDIT: i found out, i can't i can only use f20 😢
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching! You can use the F30 with the AirMini as long as you have the F20/F30 mask connector (www.respshop.com/cpap-masks/parts/othe-parts/resmed-f20-mask-connector-for-airmini-cpap-p-1211.html). The downside is there isn't a HumidX compatible for the F30 so you wouldn't have any humidification.

Don't buy it. NO RETURNS. The machine itself is very quiet but the air noise from the vent on your mask makes it unusable to sleep with. Bought one for my wife at the same time now we are stuck with two $1000 paper weights. Worked with the vendor to try to fix it, different hoses, mufflers, Masks, settings... nothing. Last warning don't buy it.

@@rickflavoredarsenal Yes the airflow from the AirMini isn't acoustically modeled for any mask. Like others have said you will hear every breath no matter what muffler, tubing or mask. I haven't tried any N (nose) style masks yet, but for all Hybrid/Full Face the mask is VERY loud.

Hello, The airmini may not be comfortable for all as it does not come with a heated humidifier or heated tube. The motor is a lot smaller as well so if used daily, your machine will expire sooner then the full time machines. Thank you for watching! Because it costs so much more to make the unit smaller, and the small size comes with limitations that are not ideal for long term usage.
