A few times on KZbin I have accidentally touched the dislike button, and than it’s too late, not regret, no change to like..... It should explain some of the dislikes, than others have little idea about what they’re doing, and even others just on the wrong channel, or expecting to find something else... I even use this channel to lift my mood some days. It’s a bit funny, I’m a complete stranger to him, he’s like a good friend that I really enjoy knowing.

Having not seen your vlogs recently, I now appreciate your stylistically different presentation. It is a refreshing difference.
@CruisingTheCut6 жыл бұрын
I think the only difference is that I'm experimenting with doing the commentary as I film, rather than writing a script to pictures afterwards but I'm interested that the difference is noticeable. Glad you enjoy it. The scripting/voiceover took hours and left me rather out of love with video making hence my summer break. I'm hoping this somewhat quicker method of turning out the vlogs will still be acceptable to viewers and keep me feeling like doing it!

Many years ago my family helped with the restoration of the tug Worcester which is the sister boat to Gloucester that you passed in your video. Seems like you had Nova Scotia weather all day! I love the big old Weeping Willow trees, right up at the edge of the canal. Looks like they're just dangling their fingers in the water to see if it's warm enough to swim. And some grazing swans, a parent with two cygnets. I wish I could do watercolours, because some of the scenery you're chugging through is gorgeous.

I am from the United States, and I have just recently discovered your vlog and started watching. I wanted you to know I am enjoying it tremendously. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful, interesting life with us. I have one question please, and you may have already covered it, if so, I am sorry for repeating. But I have quite a way to go before completing all the earlier episodes. My question: how does the boat handle in bad weather, as in high winds? Do you have to leave the boat and stay elsewhere? The reason, I am asking is because we are suffering the effects of the remnants of a hurricane, high winds, heavy rains. And i wondered what you would do in a situation like that.
@CruisingTheCut6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, glad you enjoy them. In anything other than a light breeze, the slab-sided nature of the boats means they can get pushed sideways on the cut (depending on the wind direction of course) quite easily and this can make the boat harder to handle, certainly when cornering or when trying to moor and pull the boat in on a centre line. Generally, if it's too windy, I wouldn't move the boat. For example, this week is predicted to have a couple of days when the windspeed will be around 20-25mph, gusting up to 40 and I shan't move the boat then.

A wood chipper on a barge makes quick work of tree branches. One worker trims, the other feeds the chipper. Instant wood chips and so much more compact than a pile of brush
@karlfair6 жыл бұрын
Nice job, David. How do the folks in the houses treat the boaters?
@CruisingTheCut6 жыл бұрын
I have had very little interaction with householders but I believe it varies depending on location, what the householder is like and how the boaters behave. Bad boaters provoke anger (eg running engines or generators late at night or using really smoky fuel in their stoves)
