To me an amusing realization: narrow boating = right hand driving. Car driving = left hand driving. You English are an interesting bunch! As always, a great video and commentaries. I am thoroughly fascinating by narrow boating. The landscape is beautiful and the locks are fun to watch. This seems like a great way to live. Greetings from across the Atlantic. :-)

I like to see all the little things along the way like water points etc. At first I thought that my interest in off grid houses and now also narrowboats, were to get away and be disconnected from the world but I have come to the realisation that is about freedom to choose and more importantly, having tasks off work that I need to do to keep my brains occupied with things that aren’t watching depressing news that I have no chance of doing anything about.

I am trying to figure out why your videos are so addictive. All I come up with is you have figured out a great mix of what people need to relax. you're skilled with video, You're skilled with journalism and you have a great topic. PS I personally would not mind more videos of those little birds drinking the driping water or the flowers or butterflies. But take my advice cautiously because whatever you're doing is working to relax thousands of people.
@CruisingTheCut5 жыл бұрын
I wish I could show more of the birds etc but it all comes down to pure luck in terms of them being there to film and not flying off by the time I've got the camera on them. Real wildlife videographers will spend months trying to get one shot, I have only seconds!! :-)

In my days as a plasterer in the 70's/80's when Water-Points were scarce and electricity and toilets on sites were rarer than hen's teeth, I used to have my own Hydrant which I'd connect to the nearest point, (because hydrant points had to go in with Services before sites could start) and the pressure was sublime!! a 45 gallon drum took about three minutes maximum. Not too sure how 'legal' it was - But! - OH Well ;-) Something to put in your thinking cap #YoungDave?? .......

Just tucking in to some excellent offerings bought from the Cheese Boat at Braunston last weekend. Highly recommended. Have to confess that the better half is planning on moving our garden full of wind chimes to our early retirement liveaboard in a few years; along with the dog, and cats, and chickens! She has conceded that the bee hives will be a stretch too far! I'll keep working on her to leave the wind chimes and (most of) the chickens behind too. Keep up the great work.

Snorting re windchimes - Benign, with gritted teeth. Catch 22, good vlogs increase interest in narrowboating cluttering locks! Sigh. I envy you, yet wonder what traffic's to be 5 years hence while hoping it remains close to present level. Your vlogs are thoughtful, dotted with bits of interesting this and that. Watching dexterity handling locks, plenty skill and and sheer physical effort required. This vlog particularly fulfilling to watch. Hahaha, you and cheese sarnies and name of that wee boat, hilarious. Mid summer's canal verges/scenery - simply stunning. Heavens, forced to eat ice-cream. Enjoyable "watch" thanks!
