If you use an excess of butter and an excess of sugar, your toppings are dense, and use high protein flours you can really make a cookie calorically dense
@dizzylilthing3 ай бұрын
@@tatt_cat did you know one sandwich from the American sandwich store called Subway can be over 2,000 calories? with their most calorically dense bread clocking in at 1200 calories, you only need to add fatty and sugary ingredients in order to give it another 800 calories and make it the single thing you need in a day to get your daily caloric intake. calories are really easily manipulatable since they represent how much potential energy a dish contains. A dish created using lots of volatile ingredients, such as fats and sugars, is going to have a lot of potential to release energy. Speaking about the 'trial shift' I, as a qualified pharmacist in the UK, was offered one of these so called 'trial shifts' at a small community pharmacy I applied to work at. Nowhere on the job ad did it mention this. They expected me to come in and work for them for several hours FOR FREE to prove to them that I could... Be a pharmacist? I wasn't even newly qualified at the time! I'd already been working in pharmacy for almost 2 and a half years at that point. When I simply repeated it (for clarity) to the owner on the phone that they essentially wanted me to work without pay for a couple hours, she s told me it's an 'investment' and I should view it as an 'opportunity'. I honestly had to stop myself from laughing in her face and politely told her I would think about it. Then messaged her later that I'd accepted a job offer elsewhere. It honestly blew my mind. So insulting. Part of me wonders if there was an aspect of racism because I'm black. Why can't they just contact my references like a normal person? Nah, I'm sure this is what they do. They give people this 'trial shift' (unpaid labour) and then say "Sorry, you're not what we're looking for." 😂😂 What a joke. As if it'd be difficult for me to find another job in community pharmacy. I'm laughing at it but honestly a newly qualified pharmacist might fall into this trap so I am worried for them.

They were a small business and couldn't afford to hire me full time without first having me build a classroom and 'prove myself'. It was baffling. Worse, dude railed about how the younger gen weren't team players cause they insist on working only for the hours they're paid for, and don't want to stay overtime to help without pay or notice. I explained to her that I got stuck and she didn't care. I ate half of the chicken and wound up throwing the rest away. She also said to my face that being on the closing shift meant you had to stay until EVERYTHING was done. I was getting rides from my parents at the time as I didn't have my license and was also fresh out of high school (started in my senior year, ended when I graduated) and I wasn't going to walk home at night, wearing all black and I was a little scared to take public transit at night. I would not be able to get home if I stayed until 1 or 2 am. I only lasted there about 6 months and I hated every second of it.
@blueberry-the-wolf60952 ай бұрын

"...corporate greed is not just an accumulation of wealth but it's a devaluation of the workforce" -such facts! I've never paid for crumbl cookies myself but have had them at work celebrations. They're certainly way too sweet and only suitable for sharing with 3 other ppl lol. The best one I've ever had was a peanut butter flavor that had a fraction of the sugars that their other cookies have. We definitely peeped the nutrition facts on the website and were in awe of the sugar levels. I'm not even surprised to hear that the labor practices are just as bad as the recipes and the prices Smh Thanks for another great video 💛

Why is this temp bad? Genuinely curious cause as a home baker cookies are usually like 325-350f
@24shineon3 ай бұрын
@@lulumolloy my genuine guess is they just aren’t baked for long enough to cook the inside since the temp is higher leaving them long enough would make the outside not as desirable, but that’s only a guess
@user-um8zt2ke8o3 ай бұрын
@lulumolloy their cookies are much larger and thicker and often contain chunky toppings that affect the ability to cook fully once taken out of the oven to cool. Most items will continue to cook with residual heat. Additionally it's often young kids with their first job, so they aren't keen on when to keep the food in longer, checking temps. They also cook many more at a time, so the heat is distributed more over more items, as opposed to a home cook who usually does a dozen or 2 at a time. Not bashing on them, it's just stuff you learn to do over time. But these businesses like this don't, andaren't, training them properly. It's all telephone training (being trained by someone who was trained by someone else who was trained by someone who's not even there anymore). So, the quality suffers.

You were spot on about being taken advantage of when you’re young and inexperienced just entering the workforce. Been there a few times. One job I had the psychopath boss refused me time off for my Grampa’s funeral!! And I had given them a good heads up. Needless to say, I didn’t work there for long. Of course there was a myriad of other problems, but in a nutshell, all the employees(it wasn’t just me) were way under appreciated, underpaid, overworked (the company refused to hire enough staff for all the responsibilities), basically treated like trash. I can now sniff out this crap a mile away, I know all the right questions to ask in an interview, and for the present, I’m working for myself, until I find a company who can appreciate the skills and hard work I have to offer.
@finnpeders023 ай бұрын
i had an interview at crumbl a while ago so i can corroborate some of this! the owners watching through the cameras is true, probably depends on location/franchise but they straight up said they did that when i interviewed. they were also forward about being a "competitive" workplace, which is a huge red flag. also not talked about in the video, but at the franchise i interviewed at, all the employees had to join the landmark forums "self help" cult.

These viral trends are getting crazy. Seriously, people would line up for anything nowadays. Those cookies are not even good. Boss took some to office and I took one bite and had to spit it out. These cookies, the Stanley cups, Starbucks cups and drinks, etc are not worth the hype in my opinion.
@tarotsushima33322 ай бұрын
Not to mention the turnover rate on these microtrends is crazy. The Stanley Cup and Trader Joe tote bag crazes barely lasted a year before people stopped giving a shit and I'd reckon Crumbl's hurtling towards that path fast. Just a lot of people with too much time and money on their hands indulging in overconsumption to stave boredom and get some sort of in-crowd feel of belonging.

I worked at a neighborhood pizza place in my late teens/early 20s that has been a favorite of the community for years. They get written about in the papers as a local gem and just the most perfect place. The truth is, I've seen them hire minors who are too young to work there, during hours they could never legally work, deny workmans comp for workplace injuries and leave their employees destitute (myself included), expect employees to work as a professional cleaning crew on top of their regular jobs for less money than they worked for or that a person can reasonably live on. They even once stayed open despite having no hot water for a week, which is a HORRIBLE health concern in terms of hand sanitizarion and dish washing. I quit after 5 years there because i legitimately didn't feel okay poisoning my own neighborhood community and was blacklisted from business in my neighborhood that knew the owners because i blew the whistle on their illegal practices.

each US state has different child labor laws. the laws differ in the ages they protect, the amount of hours worked, time of day allowed to work, etc. some states have more labor protections than others. for example, in Wisconsin, the state I work in, if a minor is under the age of 16, they cannot work past 7pm (and 3 hours per day) while school is in session or past 9pm (and more than 8 hours per day) during seasonal or holiday breaks. Kids that are 16-18 aren't protected at all and are subjected to the same labor laws that adults are. businesses in Wisconsin, especially fast food chains and franchises, are notorious for violating child labor laws. 15 year old kids flipping burgers until 10pm on a Thursday in October. it's not regulated. someone, a parent or a kid aware of their rights or a teacher, has to report it to the federal and/or state employment rights department. america will always value capital over protecting its citizens. nothing is sacred.
@TheSamjane42 ай бұрын
Same in Australia…kids under 16 are not allowed to work past 9pm Kids under 15 can’t work past 5pm and kids 16-18 not past midnight. and no school hours except on school holidays. If they dont want them to have breaks then they are only allowed to work a 3 hr shift because anything after that they MUST have proper paid breaks.
