I just realized, Yuuki is essentially a Player who had found a game he hadn't played for a looooong time, and decided to try it again. He loads up new game plus, and finds himself with his original max level character and max level gear and powers, but because of how long he hadn't played, forgot all of his moves, and has to re-learn all of them as he goes.

I believe you see flashbacks of a pink haired girl (Yui), a blondish catgirl (Hiyori), and a blue haired girl (Rei). Those were Yuuki’s partners in a game before Princess Connect Re:Dive and he lost all his memories (hence the name Re:Dive since it’s a sequel, although the game before Re:Dive went out of service I believe). Lets just say the story has a similar plot to SAO without going further into spoiler territory.
