@@Foxbopper A mute child is the son of a great king and must overcome his weakness and disabilities in order to be the greatest king ever. It's dope AF and deceptively tragic at times. If you like old school one piece then you'll love this one. It's definitely one of my favorite anime series at the moment.

From the trailer alone I thought it looked like a mix between dragon quest and old school one piece (back when the backgrounds used to be water colored). They don't waste their time and effort making some hyper polished and bland looking anime, this actually has style to it.

This is probably the closest to a real fight that could happen in life. Immediate action, no nonsense, and not even a minute pass before it ends. A stare down was added at the start, but not all that intrusive... Although the length of the spear looks smaller or longer than when it's shown in a different perspective (i.e. while the blade was travelling down the spear).

as an illustrator and artist, the foreshortening in this scene is crazy. makes me want to check this anime out. this animation and art style? also the realistic fight sequence is captivating and refreshing. dont get me wrong, prolonged fights where those engaging in the combat get severely injured yet keep on fighting does send the message to never give up… but man. this was a nice watch.

The weight and care given to each move of the fight! The back and forth is so deliberate and precise! It's between two superhumans, but logistically tracks with real martial arts! It's so good!

This is about as real as a depiction gets of a fight like this (minus the styled 5 sec of rushing forward while bo-staff guy switched his hands). Sword vs staff, destroys staff. Stabbed in the gut, man bled out, no more fighting.

RoK is absolutely the gold standard for writing in anime right now. Less is more when it comes to dialogue and I’m hopeful the success of this show will inspire other studios to try and be more aware of that. There’s so many anime that could be good if they just cut the dialogue in half and let the visuals and characters’ actions speak for themselves.

It's one of the few issues I have with eastern animation. Too much exposition. Even when you can clearly understand what is going on by paying attention, there's gonna be an inner monologue or a dialogue explaining what's happening right after. Many anime shows treat the viewer as if they were a moron who needs to have their hand held at all times. RoK is so refreshing for avoiding that.

Mob Psycho also had goofy art style and yet its considered as amazing. Ranking of Kings is still ongoing and it's also amazing. It has also great openings and endings. The second opening is one of the best anime opening I've ever seen.
