In Korean culture when visiting graves or the deceased its customary to bring some kind of food and alcohol (often fruits, dried fish and soju or other refined spirits), and during certain times of the year such as chuseok (Korean harvest festival) its customary for an entire family (extended and nuclear) to gather at the grave of an ancestor or family member, preparing a large feast together. This is because in our culture we see these festivals and feasts as a celebration of life, and a means to represent that even to those who have gone by they are still and always will be family to us, always loved and remembered, never forgotten. So funny that Oden... Well, eating oden on the funeral pyre while ridiculous also kind of reminds me of those memories I have. Pretty neat.
