Kareem was such a beast even at this point, Swen Nater was big and a pretty solid player but just no match for Jabbar. People who think he was "just" about the skyhook should watch this, look at the all-around offensive skill, then also doing work on D and on the boards. He owns his man one-on-one and he just knows what to do when they crowd him, great IQ and skill, a center like Dwight lacks in those areas. That play with Magic was beautiful and a sign of things to come, and that game-winning skyhook is iconic and poetry in motion, he could shoot that thing from like 19-feet away from the basket, incredible. And, btw, Chris Ford was the 1st player to hit a 3pointer in the NBA, good 3pt shooter even though the line was only introduced in his final years. Nice upload!

the game would be much better today if the 3-point statistic remained unnoted.

Look at the dimes between 1:32-1:50. The one at 2:28. He played 97 games this year and shot 77 FT%. 3.5 BPG (4.6 BPG in the Finals). 26 PPG at 60 FG%. 11 RPG. He had no weaknesses.

There is a new show on HBO that chronicles the Lakers showyime era and it's like the office mix with the game it's amazing, I really hope this game is included into the storyline

@@claudioax Included somewhat. Kareem didn’t have 30 and Magic didn’t inbound the ball as portrayed in the episode

@@giavantehines6694 I enjoy the show, but there have been moments where I understand why Magic and the Lakers organization aren’t supporting it. Gotta maintain some level of realism

It’s a great show but man I can see why magic and the lakers aren’t supporting it. Magic didn’t even inbound the ball come on now

credit to magic at 4:45 even in his debut game in the nba he was never scared to shoot the ball at thr end of the game, he really is a winner and he was just born with that championship dna.

Under the same conditions, this team would run through today's league.
