He pulled off the equivalent of a 29 point quarter when his team needed every single bucket. I caught MJs last three and Kobe’s 5 but this game was the single greatest playoff performance I’ve ever seen. One man destroyed one of the best defensive teams ever in the still physical era of the NBA. He’s not my favorite but you guys gonna have to put some respect on this mans name.

He's really not much less athletic now. Watching this I was actually surprised at how his straight ahead sprint speed + where his head ends up in relation to the rim on dunks is similar to what it still is now. Maybe just a bit better laterally back in the day. I think having basically 0 injuries his entire career has added up in his favor big time.

Jordan scored 63 on the Celtics in the playoffs in 86. Lebron scored 49 in OT and 25 straight and 29 out of 30 in the 4th Qtr. The difference is this Piston team athletically was better than the Celtics. However, this is the greatest and most important thing. The Bulls lost that game and the series. The Cavs won this game and that series.

That Lebron game 5 performance against the Pistons in 2007 with 49 points and 25 straight is one of the best in NBA playoff history. More importantly, the Cavs won the game and that series.

LeBron's next best scorers on that team were either Larry Hughes, Sasha Pavlovic, or Daniel Boobie Gibson. And all three of them could be interchanged, showing how terrible of a roster that was. LeBron carried that dumpster fire to the NBA finals. At age 22. No other player would have been able to do that with that roster. Not happening.

People need to realize how tiring it is to handle a basketball. In the triangle, Kobe and Michael had a PG bring the ball up and swing to either side. From there, a high and low post on one side of the court would set screens and create mismatches. Lebron, on the other hand, would (and still does) bring the ball up and run a pick and roll at the top of the key. It’s mentally and physically exhausting. Anyone that has played ball can explain to you the difficulties of creating plays. It’s like teaching a man to fish and providing for the family
