Look at it this way, the Pisces C8X is a best selling ship despite having weak guns, no bed and only 4scu of cargo. Thousands of people used it as a fun and convenient way to explore Stanton. They were not bothered that it was not good at doing bounties. The Intrepid has 8scu of cargo and an interor that is in a completely different league. With a bed and kitchen you can live in it for days and you have a gunrack for when you visit bunkers or just need some firepower in case the delivery mission or drug collection runs into trouble. The real issue is that building a ship around a gun made everyone, understandably, expect a combat ship but if you ignore the misleading design language it is a fantastic ship for a low profile exploration of Pyro especially as it can outrun most attackers.

Happy that they at least up the gun size, it was really weird with a size 3 ! This make me want to see an Ares alternative with the same type of interior, maybe a long range fighter like the Vanguard ?

A gorgeous little ''New Standard''starter, its a ship for the new breed of player, who want simple, basic gameplay, to get their feet wet and cover some of the basic gameloops in comfort. Buying a ship in Star Citizen should be done based on the role it was intended, not on STATS, as they're in constant flux during development, and not on the role you want it to be. There will be the oppotunity to both RENT atm, and at AIE, buy a CCU if you expect to melt at some point, and save some $ with WARBOND. Saying that, you have to decide if carrying a small vehicle/Ursa/ROC will be an option, fuel tank size for Pyro etc. Its a ship aimed at the diverse Starter community, but not exclusively, is expected to be in the $60/90 price range. This year Noobs have a unique oppotunity to get a head start on IAE, the generous Pre-flight of these ships allows new backers to plan out thir IAE experience, learn the CCU game if need be, plan their 24hrs schedule and the FREE Fly. Ships are 1st and foremost an indulgence, you buy them for pleasure, its a game 1st, not a second job, you have MELT which offers great flexibility, although for NOOBS ''stay away from ''REFERRALS'', that attraction to save $30 will lock you out of th option to MELT, you'll have to fall on the good graces of Support. The Intrepid is small. compact, agile, and with decent cargo space. Star Citizen is 1st and foremost a game, treat it as such and enjoy it for what it is, you only need a basic starter package to enjoy the whole experience. Enjoy your Intrepid and IAE.

@@davewills148 All I know is for the past 3 days I could not leave the hangar, one day the elevators don't function, and the other two days either my ship spawns below the hangar or straight up won't spawn. Already jaded and I haven't even had the game a month. If they can't get these most basic gameplay elements working in 12 years I cannot see it ever happening

Great tour and specs review! I like the ship. If the SIG is low with added stealth components, it would make a nice courier ship! If the Combine Cannon has its knockback, I would probably run it to disrupt and run the blockade.

I feel like one of the biggest problems with the ship is that it looks like it would be combat oriented if it has it's entire schiluete dedicated to a part of the ship being where the weapons are located, similar to the Ares series of ships. It's likely that many wouldn't have known what it was actually intended for going in.

I have logged 4000+ hours since Dec '21. My go-to has always been the Avenger Titan (which was my 1st & current game package pledge), even spending substantial time with the likes of the 300i & the Cutter. I am a die-hard Crusader fan, the Intrepid is going to have to be a very spectacular starter to take the place of my Titan. Always enjoy your vids. Keep up the good work.

@JadedMantis13 No starter is a replacement for another. It is how it fulfills its roll in the beginner space (& more advanced rolls for that matter) & in its versatility. The Titan is still 'S' tier in this space.

Its a competitor to the Cutter and Aurora/Mustang, not a tier II starter like the Avenger or 300i

The Intrepid looks MUCH better with the size 4 gun. It is unfortunate that the gun points 5-6 degrees upward. At first, I thought it was an illusion created by the angular cockpit design; but NOPE; now, it is hard to un-see. (Perhaps CIG will fix this oversight, making the gun parallel to the centerline of the cockpit, before ship sale!)

Nice that CIG upped the gun size. But it is still just supposed to be a starter ship. I home CIG are smart and price this between the Mustang/Aurora and the Titan starter packs. This should not cost more than $50us in a starter pack.

The Intrepid would look waaaaay better if they did something about that glaring gap between the Cockpit and the gun. They don't need to move the Cockpit to the central axis. Just making it wider and reducing the gap a bit would do wonders for the design. Probably going to be to expensive for what it can do as a starter. Sadly

Im a serious crusader fan. I had every ship until i melted down to three. MSR, Inferno, C1. I can stand to say i am so sick of the lazy creations of our ships. They are kindve useless when it comes to career options, but are always just great to look at. The intrepid has the best amenities of all the low end ships from crusader. The Hercules is the only ship from crusader with the same level of use as the intrepid when it comes to amenities. The MSR right now dont have external storage “closet space”, and the C1 is a joke when it comes to living space. In all, my opinion, a lot of these civilian/cargo ships do not need weapons. Because at all times you’ll waste time trying to fight off the most simple opponents rather than trying to escape. Even with the sz4 buff its still useless due to the common jousting and flight model. I have no idea why they made the front of this ship like this. They already had a small ship model to build off of. From the looks of the intrepid its the same size as the shuttles on orison. They couldve used that to make the intrepid the same way and only changed the interior. So tired of we crusader fans being stumped by the lazy manufacturer choice of structural design.

CIG in panic“oh god nobody will buy this piece of junk, why does nobody want the worst armed ship in the verse? anyway put an s4 port on it and put a rhino on it” Sometimes i think that some developers and decision makers at cig have smoked the wrong window putty. who buys a ship with only an s3 cannon. half a 100i, when even an aurora has even more firepower. no fighter okay, but please s4 is still too little, precisely because we have our space pengiun avenger titan for 60 dollars. and vehicles like pulse or buggy fit into it. and a lot of more firepower in one s4, two s3 and four s2 missiles! i like this ship, as a staunch rsi, misc and crusader fan. i will buy it that's for sure. let's hope they sell it as a starter pack in the drake cutter level. 45-50 dollar standalone price would be reasonable. some paints have already been leaked and again a concgierge offer with lti.

The Intrepid is better with the S4 Rhino, it doesn't look so lopsided. It's still ugly though and looks like a Timu knockoff of a Wish knockoff of a Crusader ship. It might look better with a more colourful or a darker paint, but a Crusader ship should look good with the Crusader livery, and the Intrepid doesn't. Even with the Rhino, it's still only a Mustang Alpha/Beta competitor with a nicer-looking interior. Since the Cutter still does everything better, I'd expect the Intrepid to be in the $25-40 range at IAE. So, even if it's still one of the ugliest ships in-game, it will be good for new players to get an LTI Starter Pack that they can upgrade to something better like the Avenger Titan.

The Cutter can do 4 SCU Hauling missions, the Intrepid can only do 1-3 SCU Hauling missions. The Cutter's 2x S2s and greater durability mean that it can do Bounties better. The Intrepid technically has more HP, but it's spread out over a much larger frame and tends to have chunks blown off it easily making it difficult to control. For Merc missions, the Cutter can take a variety of bikes, a PTV, or an STV. For all other mission types, there's no difference. If three mission types are all done better by the Cutter and all others are done equally well by both, that puts the advantage firmly on the side of the Cutter. As someone who loves Crusader and is not a Drake fan... I wanted to the Intrepid to be better, or even just competitive, but it's just not.

To be clear, 1x S4 actually has a tiny bit more dps than 2x S2's, and with extra maneuverability and speed the Intrepid is now much better than the Cutter in a bounty. Sure, the hp is more spread out on the Intrepid, but it also doesn't have the huge weakpoint of the engine that makes the ship very hard to control when destroyed. The Intrepid can also carry a pulse hoverbike, though you have to tractor it in. For merc missions, the Cutter is a better ground vehicle carrier. Overall, though, the Intrepid has a bit more fuel, accelerates faster, is more maneuverable, and has almost double the Cutter's top speed in atmo, which helps with all mission types. There are some clear trade-offs between Cutter and Intrepid, and pick what you prefer, but the Cutter isn't necessarily better.

The Intrepid is comparable to an updated Mustang Alpha/Beta. The Cutter is still better than this for every mission type. I would expect it to be in the $25-40 range. At $45, just buy a Cutter. Any higher, just buy an Avenger Titan.
