Finally someone explains how to play properly against the Fantasy, most authors just recomends the e6 variation but it's super passive and it can become a struggle, this is more direct. Also, I don't think it is complicated at all, you can just remember that after e5 Nf3 you just pin the knight and follows up with Nd7 to avoid the tricks on f7, only knowing that you can have a good game in this variation, so it's super usefull video.

Yeah, I always felts e6 was too passive, and this fights for equality.

Yes. E6 is like French and banzea e5 is risky after nc3...this is good line😊😊

But what if they first take with the bishop and then take our bishop with the knight? 8:16

You don't take the bishop iguess

I know this is very late, but if your castled (Like he says to do in the vid) after Bxf7 you respond with h7, which is trading the bishop for the knight, while also gaining a tempo on the bishop and an open h file for your rook.

Thank you ! The fantasy is one of the variations I currently don't like seeing, as black playing the Caro. Maybe with some of these ideas that might change. Your explanation is excellent.

Overhead someone I'm playing in two weeks saying he has some great ideas for the fantasy variation if someone plays 1....c6. So thought it best I take a quick look into it. All the advice seems sound, all it needs is me to remember it and not blunder f7 haha

I'm guessing you haven't encountered it often, but after 3.f3 de4 you should probably mention 4.Nc3, which transposes directly into the Blackmar-Diemer gambit. The same applies with 3.Nc3 de4 4.Bc4! followed by f3. Since the BDG is quite dangerous, especially for the unprepared, I think this is one of the more important side variations that black needs to be aware of.

What do you think about an early e5 (without exchanging pawns on e4) to remove white's pawn from the b6--g1 diagonal and then placing Bc5 and Qb6 to dominate said diagonal?

Thank you! As a Caro-Kann player myself, I absolutely hate playing against this variation. At the same time, it's my main move against the Caro-Kann if I'm playing with white pieces. So I hate and love it at the same time lmao

I don’t okay the Caro but I love watching your videos just to see the opponents ideas. Excited for the two knights vid since that my usual response. Interested to see what lines you have! Some be2 pet lines for the usual bg4 development has been trendy in 2knights players in particular, I’m curious to see what ideas there are. Cheers! Amazing content as always!

A very playable variation is 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. f3 Qb6 Then you aim to play e5, Be6, and Ne7 as relatively simple developing moves. The knight on g8 can go to e6 and then to g6 to target the pawn on e5.
@ChessGeek1
@ChessGeek1 2 жыл бұрын
Indeed, this is very possible, and a good option. I saw recently some top level games were played in this variation (and I also believe some great courses on the caro - Like ChessGoals' course recommends this option!!)
