Does anticipating mixdown influence your sound choices here? Specifically with the low end, you have a full melodic bass line but also added a long sub kick. My tendency would be to shorten that kick so as not to get in the way of the bass but I’m curious about your thought process. Thanks!

I believe this is a bit subjective...there are various reasons or scenarios when the first would sound far superior...for example, if you add vocals, the second one becomes a bit cluttered.

I agree with you - it definitely depends on the scenario. There are times for more simple kits - but even if it were to be more simple I would not just use the loop but would still customize it. Personally, I'm not a fan of taking a loop and calling it a day even if the main beat is what I'm going for.

Yep - even if you have a top and bottom mic, they'll be two mono tracks usually.

hey man I know the song isnt mastered but your whole instrumental is already peaking above 5db on the master. Is this actually okay for mixing? Cuz I usually try not to get my instrumental above 0 db on the master when not mastered. Good content btw!

When I'm producing sometimes things will be above 0dB but when it comes to mix down - I 100% bring everything down a ton. You definitely cannot be above 0dB when sending for mastering. Really should be at -6dB or so
