As a technical note, if you change the Hz on the bit-crusher your are not bit-crushing but downsampling. Bit-crushing is the process of reducing the bit depth, not the sample rate. BUT, commonly we relate low sampling rates with low bit depth audio, so that's why "bit-crusher" VSTs focus on the Hz (even tho you can also change the bit depth).

I love these videos so much, super helpful and creative works! I do want to point out that bit crushing and down sampling are different things, and down sampling is actually what this video demonstrates. even though that plug-in is called bit crusher, we're hearing it change sample rate not bit depth. Both give a simple degraded effect but with different parts of a sounds so called resolution.

there's this soundtrack on an old game that lost its source code. It needed to be low quality so of course the compression artifacts, to me, gave it some sort of charm. Now whenever I listen to the Homeworld Cataclysm soundtrack, I essentially think of it like being made today but added a bitcrusher on the entire track.
