Tom is totally right about northern Wisconsin smallie fishing. It’s walleyes or nothing for most guys. If you can’t eat it don’t waste your time. Hope it stays that way for my future trips 👍 great content as always.

Pound for pound one of the best fighters to catch. They are loads of fun to catch. Thanks for the info included in your videos. The bite has been tough this cold spring in west central Minnesota.

Love your small mouth vids. Not sure why they would get less views as smallies give ya such a great show and can't think of much more that is more exciting than a big smallie on light gear. Keep up the good work sir! I'll be up there in two weeks so save a few for me. Already saving some of your videos as reminders of stuff I want to try when I get there.

Love smallie fishing Tom and always watch your videos all the way to the end. We usually catch more than enough walleyes to eat while smallmouth fishing that we don’t target walleyes until summer.

Appreciate this video, bass opened a month early in my zone and I'm picking apart my lake fishing this exact stuff, lol. Thanks for the encouragement, looks like I'm tying on some hair jigs, I've been throwing square bills.

Your killing it with all your videos. Do you think that the ML is heavy enough for smallies? Don't most bass fisherman use a bait caster with MH rods? Or is that more just for large mouth?

I appreciated the comment when you don't have enough wind for a jerkbait bite, to throw the hair jig. I'm gonna remember that tip. I'm always looking for when to throw a hair jig. thanks. What pound braid do you like to use as the mainline?
@outdoorsman93844 жыл бұрын
Thomas with those little 1/8 jiggs are you feeling the bottom well, and do you use high visable line, windy days probably could be difficult on 1/8 would you then just up the ounces, or punt🎣

I ordered some Kaylins products you link like the Marabou jigs and jerk minnow JR. plastic do you have a promo code? I ordered the Piscifun Carbon X and got an extra spool was thinking of having one with 10 pound braid and the other with 8 pound fluorocarbon. Do you ever run straight fluorocarbon or do you need the sensitivity of the braid? Also used you Sub15 promo code thanks for all your advice I’m going to target those walleye hard this year!!

Another great vid Tom...and it has me begging to pick your brain about where to find walleye vs smallies. Just got off the lake this weekend with the exact same temps...46F climbing to 51F by the end of the day. Deep, clear water, with plenty of rock and sand in that 5-20foot range. Hammered all the spots I expected to find walleye, and got these crazy aggressive smallies in every spot. Only found eyes at night stacked up at the rivermouth. So the burning question is, were the smallies just outcompeting the walleye in all those prime spots, or should I have been fishing deeper all day to get eyes? Just thought it was weird that at this time of year I could only get the eyes at night. Would love your input, thanks!

Trying to get better at walleye, they seem harder in Eastern states. We only got one 16.5" last weekend 4-6 foot deep mid day. As clear as the lake is, only thing I can figure is maybe it was hanging around weeds or their was some structure down there. Id think the clarity and light would have drawn them a bit deeper. I saw some what looked like walleye on the finder, but no hits on those and they were deep in the 20ft range. They but yellow bass in the lake a few yrs ago, and man I think they taking over. They good eating when you get them with size, but annoying especially when using worms. Water temp 60-64 degree range here.
