Oh, My, Nannie! You and I share a love for Estee Private Collection! For decades it has been my "evening out/special occasion" scent. It was always so expensive and saved for only the best events. In the last few years, I have got out my unopened beautiful bottles (some of them in their little leather pouches) and started wearing it whenever I feel like it, even going to bed at night. I won't live long enough to run out of Estee, so why not enjoy it now? I'm sure my heirs won't appreciate it as I do. So happy you're an Estee fan. Dear Nanny, thankyou so much for sharing your life. This New Years Eve, my Mom will be passed away 8 years, she was only 74, her Brother, my Uncle , just passed away this Christmas Eve, he was also 74. I have been waiting anxiously to see this video about your Christmas in SD. I just cannot believe how many are featured in your family photo! Wow! I thought the gatherings we had were large with my 8 cousins and the three of us and parents and aunt and uncle. Lol. I was so very lucky to have grown up next door to them. We used to have our maternal cousins come at Christmas too. My maternal aunt whom I loved so much had a tradition of making chicken soup with tortellinis (little hats) with her own homemade pasta filled with a fine ground chicken mixture. We had to count them as it was served to each one of us. No fair cheating! All in fun of course. The oldest cousin, all boys, was so funny he made our stomachs and faces hurt with laughter. Loud, raucous italians! I cooked and cooked this year as usual, but only for myself and the man in my life. The cream puffs brought me such sweet memories as well. Those were a staple at MY nanny's. Anytime of year. Yum! We visited her every Sunday without fail. Even though she only spoke Italian it pleased me to make her laugh and to know our presence brought her joy, especially because she was bedridden from a stroke. I am grateful my parents instilled in me that devotion to family. I now have love in my heart at Christmas thinking of all of them. I used to play the organ at Christmas Eve mass here in our little town with peers singing in the balcony looking down on the beautiful altar and stained glass windows. Dain (spelling?) will remember these meaningful times as well. I too remember the deep drifts of snow and the quiet magic of walking up the street with crystalline laden trees on the way to church. I am so happy for you you got your Estee. Moosie rocks! What a thoughtful gift he received with the pillow. Lizzie and Meghan did a wonderful job, lending fun and originality to your Christmas. It makes me happier than you know to know you have them and all your family. Thank you Nanny and to all your family for sharing. I am also grateful to them for taking such good care of you. My mother also used to wear that same perfume (even gave my daughter, when she was little, a tiny sample bottle) one time we were in the grocery store and my daughter tugged at my sleeve and said, “Mommy , that lady smells like Grandma!!!” Sweet yours will remember you and your special scent. Oh my!!! This video is what life is all about!!!!! These wonderful times with family cannot be replaced, bought or sold!!!!! You and Moosie are very blessed!!!!! I have never been a signature fragrance person, but years ago, I did wear Estee quite often. My favorite Estee Lauder fragrance has always been Private Collection, but EL changed the formula and it just doesn’t smell the same anymore. The same is true for Chanel No 5; the splash bottle that I had in the 70’s smelled so much better than what they sell today. Shalimar doesn’t smell the same now either!!! I think many of the ingredients that used to come from the actual flowers are artificially produced nowadays. So happy you and Moosie haven’t gotten sick and continue to do so well. I am sure you will miss your annual fondue dinner this year on New Year’s Eve, but it is a lot of work. I’m sure you’ll enjoy whatever you decide to do. Happy New Year to my special friends!!!!!
