The Iranian MP has a very simple logic. If the West can send missiles to Ukraine, why can't Iran send missiles to its ally Russia? Moreover, the US has put sanctions on Iran barring its access to food. Hence it is legitimate for Iran to make arrangements for food from some alternative sources. I think Russia and Iran are just doing civilian trade, as Russians have a prominent weak spot in the understanding of how civilian planes work. There is no mystery about the nature of trade between Russian passenger jets repaired by Iran in exchange for food. Russia has quite a few passenger jets flying with no problems, unlike Boing's 737-Max and 787, which consistently fall off the skies. Just that other day, a lady told me she had a discount airline flight in a 737, but when she reached the airport, she found out it was a 737-MAX plane. When all the passengers boarded the plane, they had to sit there for 2 hours due to mechanical issues. She said she had had enough and walked off the plane for a later flight without any cancelation fees due to the anxiety about the Boing plane's reputation in the industry. From miles away and reading between the lines, this is electronic warfare at work. It sounds like they were able to use electronic warfare technology to divert this drone from its course. The drone wasn't aimed at a military target in their country, of course it wasn't but they are letting the Russians know that NATO has the technology to intercept them and bring them down in Latvia and Romania and wherever else because the information will be shared among all the NATO partners.
