I run my Dime wah into 3 drives on my board, a Alchemy modded Blues driver, a Meat and 3 modded Soul food , and a bias knob modded older 3 knob Tube driver that I run at 18v and use a 12av7 tube. Very fuzzy if I crank the bias. The 18v gives plenty of headroom to stack drives well. With all the variables, wah and drives, sometimes hard to find "THAT" sound twice.

As a musician who is also a fulltime wheelchair user, I spend a lot of my time trying to figure out how to adapt music tech/gear for those with additional needs. For obvious reasons, I find pedals hard to use (though not impossible) however, I love the mindset of just taking things to bits and making them work for the needs of the differently abled or a specific purpose, Great video.

Great idea, but I don’t understand why you would put volume and gain controls for the fuzz circuit on internal, hard to access trim pots.

He probably figured it's 'set and forget'. I'm going to get one and I wonder if I'll make them external.

Im not being critical but as a pedal circuit designer myself i feel that a switch for signal chin order is essential functionality for a modern fuzz/wha..it would offer so much flexibility to guitar players that have a lot going on on their board's already...also making the fuzz userable on its own would be a plus..maybe not as a switch but a direct input if wanted?....but then a rotary switch might be the best way to get a lot of the function I mentioned?

Seeing the blue writing on the bottom of this and the same logo on top; a pedal like this really should have some kind of slogan on the foot switch

Internal controls... argh... The Dunlop made Dimebag Darrell Cry Baby has them on the outside, even the Behringer clone of it has them on the outside!
@waynegram8907 Жыл бұрын
DUNLOP, you should have put an outside control for the fuzz circuits GNARLY amount. When you mix the wah Q bumps with a fuzz circuit you will get these Octavia tones if its fine tuned correctly. You have to redesign the wah pedal and fuzz circuit so at multiple cocked wah points it will get these octavia tones.

This looks pretty cool. My only criticisms, from a user's perspective, would be that the fuzz controls should be on the side of the pedal instead of inside, and the fuzz switch should be a side-kick switch similar to what Dunlop uses on other wahs. I feel like the toggle switch would be awkward to use. Otherwise, looks awesome!

I have several Jim Dunlop pedals , Super Quality . I would like to see 1 pedal that makes me sound like Robin Trower 1975 , Winterland .
@cygnals524 Жыл бұрын
@trevorgwelch7412 I am a huge fan of Robin Trower and his sound as well.. I have 2 American Strats & a Marshall Tube amp. I use a Univibe(RetroVibe by Jam), Dunlap Wah I still can't completely nail his sound. Robin Trower has a few videos here on YT that are only a few minutes each were he goes over his gear. He uses Fulltone Deja Vibe Wah pedals & there is a signature Robin Trower Fulltone Overdrive pedal he helped create. He also uses a Fulltone "cocked" Wah. I have an EHX "Cock Fight" with an expression pedal ... an still can't nail his sound the way I would like to. I did not know this until I watched his videos but he has always exclusively used Fulltone pedals. I am sure they are excellent but I am a Dunlap CryBaby fan. It was the first pedal I ever bought when I bought my first electric guitar and amp years ago. They are built like tanks and last for a very long time. I also had an issue with my Dunlap CryBaby Wah about 2 years ago. It just died after over a decade of constant usage. Instead of tossing it and buying a new one I researched it and found out it was fairly easy to fix. I just had to order a part for roughly $30 and when I did this I got the "Red Fasel inductor" made by Dunlap. It took about 10-15 minutes to replace and my "old" Cry Baby sounds better than ever!! I have a few other Dunlap pedals as well. I still have my Dunlap "Roto Vibe" I bought in the late 1980s/early 1990s but it cuts out and doesn't work unfortunately. I opened that up and noticed right away that fixing that pedal is going to not be an easy task like their Cry Baby Wah pedals. I would like to get it fixed but don't want to pay a small fortune to do so. I am such a huge Trower fan that when I went to Montreal years ago & ate at the Hard Rock Cafe I noticed they had one of Trowers Strats on the wall so I sat right next to it & got a few photos.

This sounds like an amazing pedal and I was instantly considering bying it... right up until he mentioned interior trim pots. Just why? I absolutely despise interior trim pots, and they make no sense. Most of us players will attach our pedals to our boards, and now we can't access features on the pedal? I'll stick to my Crybaby 5350. It has little knobs on the outside to adjust several features. It's a pedal that I can actually mount on my beard and still use 100% of it.
@thegoodguy44 Жыл бұрын
It costs more to make dedicated knobs for them.
@johnzawicki5032 Жыл бұрын
I said the same thing... Nothing like between songs and having to remember a panel to adjust it... Then wait... 3rd sound let's just stop an do it again... 4th song .. guess what... Or even mid song ... Yikes.. nothing could be a worse design
@DougMayer Жыл бұрын
Have you ever played a 2 knob, 2 transistor fuzz? There’s no need to make adjustments. Set volume to taste and gain to max, no input buffer means guitar volume controls gain.
@johnzawicki5032 Жыл бұрын
There's zero sense in making it adjustable at all if your putting it inside. And if you're a set it and forget it guy ... Oh yeah the the creativity possibilities are... Well zero lol.
@Skoora Жыл бұрын
In principle I agree but I do think most will be set and forget. Fuzz pretty high and volume to taste and not touched after that. Considering how many wah's they have with the mini trim pots on the outside, it's a weird omission.
