Some say KZbin is bad for the music industry , but without it I would have never found one of my new favorite tenor sax players. I can't think of a better player for slow jazz songs.

Quite a few comments to talk about hear. I listen to Mathew a lot having bought myself a tenor last Xmas after 65 years playing the drums ! No good listening to Golson Coltrane etc (other than for enjoyment) guys like Mathew inspire me to emulate them rather than hoping for the impossible.(A) its never to late to start Im 80 (B) it neednt be expensive I bought my sax on Ebay for £150 (C) look and listen to yourself (bathroom mirror is great accoustics are good there too) Practice long notes to develop your tone. Dont worry about cheeks in or out etc being comfortable blowing is more important to start with the rest will develop as you progress.

I've been playing a clarinet since 6th grade even though all I ever wanted was to play the saxophone. I'm a junior in high school and the urge of wanting to play has come back. I've been contemplating on whether I should switch or not since I only had 2 years left but listening to you play made me decide to switch, thank you!
@robertsun55297 жыл бұрын
Music is a lifelong hobby. Plus if you know how to play clarinet, saxophone will be really easy for you to pick up. The fingers are pretty much the same. I would say go for a try. Never know unless you try.

Matthew, that was beautiful. You weren't just playing the notes, you were interpreting the Lyrics. You got the emotion of that 'lost love but I'll get over it' song. Great Tnr technique, & your sensitive use of vibrato really sold it. It is a lesson on how to play a Ballad. Very enjoyable. Thanks.

Wow. Thank you. I've been scouring KZbin, trying to find people with the touch and tone and emotion that first hooked me on the sax three decades ago. Now I've found it. My alto and me don't sound anything like you, but listening to you has given the buzz to pick it up again.

Just gorgeous... no doubt like that woman so many years ago. Cheer up, though. Today she'd still be almost 10 years older than you are and none of us is getting any younger! Joking aside, there is a depth of feeling to your playing on this one that is rare and wonderful and very real, borne, no doubt by the passion and, perhaps, melancholy you feel thinking back to those fine days at that window. One of my favorites of yours, so far, for sure! PS: New specs! They look great!

Aubra Graves passed recently. I heard someone play this song as a kind of tribute to Aubra today... I said what I said commenting his playing, which was not bad and at the same time it was obvious from the start that this song is too intimate to be able to reach beyond one's failures...hesitation who to love and who not too... and ... YT just listed your video. Analogue man vs second hand one. Fullfiled and satisfied listening to someone's story... a story of your life in that song. Bravissimo 😄
