Over the last month or so we’ve had alot of questions regarding one of our Crye AVS rigs. While the avs is one the best load bearing and modular plate carriers out of the box, there was just a few things we wanted in a carrier that it couldnt offer from the factory. Alot of parts and peices, trial and error, and TIME went Into this rig. So enjoy it! We’ll do a deep dive into all the things that make it OUR favorite carrier! As promised we've provided links to the majority of items on this kit. Please go out and watch other content creators videos on how they set up kit. This kit works for us, but it may not work out for you. Pull information from as many people as you can, and set your kit up for what your end goal is. DO NOT just emulate what we have. figure what works for you and create your own system! Thanks for stopping by!
This is a dumbed down version of our AVS setup for people to better understand the concepts at hand. And yes we know, SSE stands for sensitive site exploitation. You guys wanted a video and links of the Plate carrier Group, so here you go! below are the amazon links for a quick arrival and or to test out gear before you spend your money on an expensive item. we get a small kick back from amazon. we can't see what you buy or where it goes. any and all funds will be used to buy better camera equipment to further our videos. a small portion of any funds received from KZbin will go to the gofundme for our Friend lance, and to a charity we see fit. Thank you all so much for taking the time!

Good vid, subbed. My only beef with this setup is that the Cobra buckle isn't good for quick doffing. Cobra buckles don't release when they're being pulled, so they might not let go when you're trying to get it off in a hurry. If it hasn't been a problem for you, no problem. I'm personally considering swapping to a small Tubes adapter for the shoulder buckle, I remember someone makes one, it might be 8492 Nylonworks.
@FischerDefenseGroup
@FischerDefenseGroup 8 ай бұрын
Hasn’t been a problem yet. But a good insight nonetheless. Typically pressing up on the bottom of the buckle in any scenario will release it in any scenario. Now If we’re talking a medical emergency or casualty care. they will cut off whatever gear they need to in order to get to it. No one really cares what kind of gear, or the price of your gear if your life is on the line. If you like the tubes for the shoulder, lets us know. Always interested, and always helps for more people know their options on different set ups and what works! Hope the tubes works in your favor man, and thanks for the sub!

Very neat setup. Most of the things are pretty similar to mine. But still trying to figure out how to adjust some stuff on the left side in order to use that shoulder lock but not put much on my shooting side. Now I have some ideas, thanks! The only thing - I haven't notice any TQ on it. You probably have it on a belt but how many of it you usually carry and do you have at least one spot where everyone should carry a tq according to the sop? Much love from Ukraine
@FischerDefenseGroup
@FischerDefenseGroup Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear this helped! One spot is different for everyone because we're all built different. Put it in the spot that you can access it with both hands! I carry one on my belt line, mounted onto my holster. I also carry one or two in my sleeve or sleeves of the combat top. Depending on the placard/chestrig I use with this there will be one rubber banded on it as well. Generally the rule of thumb for MOST people I have personally worked with in the past is 2-4. 2 being the bear minimum. At any time I have 2 on the kit that I can access from both sides. and SOP for our team is 2 per person. Medical will carry a more extensive care bag, and have more knowledge on treating casualty. Some people will have 4 TQ's on their person, one for each limb. Butttttt if you're missing all 4 limbs YOU cannot put on your TQ. But they're worth their weight in gold to carry extras. Some food for thought. this helped, Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's something I left out!

@@davidb9323 can only speculate at this point. The ones that are on it have been pretty decent so far. It’s got some color discoloration around the main stress point. From what we’ve seen, and the people we’ve talked to. they seem to hold up well. The guys we’ve talked to in the marine corps are 50/50 on them. Some love them, some hate them. So far we like the first spear tubes, but time will tell. If you’re going to buy a tubes system, buy the first spear tubes. Don’t buy the cheap Amazon version of them. I think the extra 3 pieces from first spear was something north of 20 bucks to the door.

Question on mag placement (I’m not a cool guy, just a civvy), how many mags do you run on your carrier + belt and how many do you run in your pack? Is it really necessary to have 6 mags readily available (not any in your pack)? I’m trying to find a good balance and placement without running extra shit out in front of my carrier so that it becomes annoying when going prone or laying my rifle flat
@FischerDefenseGroup
@FischerDefenseGroup Жыл бұрын
So I’ll put it this way. You know what you need. YOU are the one that will dictate your mission and what you have to do. 6 is the standard load out bc typically that’s what the military issues you. Maybe 7. It depends who you’re with and what your job is. Personally I run around 5-6 on my plate carrier, 1 on the belt, and 1 in the gun. I have extra loaded magazines in my assault pack at all times, how many? It just depends where we’re going, and how long. So do you need 6 available to you? Maybe, maybe not. You might be able to get away with 4 and one in the gun and no extra mags. Again, you decide what you’re going to do as a civ. The last thing I will say is that you can never have enough ammo or water. You will fight and die with what’s on your back. I know it’s vague, but I don’t know what you’re situation is and I don’t know what you’re going to do. Is it recon? Is it direct action to go get more resources for your family? A lot goes into play here. That’s why mission always dictates gear. Hope that somewhat helps you man

@FischerDefenseGroup
@FischerDefenseGroup 6 ай бұрын
Not a problem man. The whole purpose of this channel is to get people’s brain moving and get ideas out for gear and equipment. Had issues finding anything on this as well, and people asked enough questions to justify the video. As far as the chest rig goes, I’ve used it before but never owned one. It’s got a lot of space for mags, support gear (both sides) but doesn’t come with a harness/yoke. IMO it’s a lot of stuff to stack on a plate carrier. I would rather use the triple mag placard or the flaps from Crye if you wanted to stick with it. That being said, I think it’s a great piece of gear and can complement certain applications very well. I ended up going with the tracer tactical scout for a larger chest rig. We have a video on tiktok about said chest rig to give you some ideas. Hope this helps man, if you any other questions drop em below.

@@FischerDefenseGroup I have a suggestion on future content if youre down: I see tons of ppl running phones on their admin area above the mags. Aside from TRex and S2 Underground nobody has any useful content regarding "how to make it all work" (ie depending on cell service or using a radio with a modem to transmit the data) and what use it has within the team etc. If you could go over that, that would be swell. (Im responsible for comms in my crew and it was enough of a pain to convince everyone to switch to Motorolas so Im ill inclined to push *another* system that everyone has to learn and make room for. @FischerDefenseGroup

@@mahbuddykeith1124 Is pretty spot on with this. We don't really have the allocation of time necessary to do that and brake things down piece by piece. There are plenty of guys already going over the tear down and assembly of the AVS. Chances are, they go into better detail than we would. This video is more-less a way to get ideas and concepts to people so they can take ideas and or products to add onto their kit. IF it fits their role or goal. This Plate carrier is indeed a money pit and if you don't need the options it has and offers, DON'T BUY IT. A lot of people would be better off with a JPC or LV119 from spiritus systems. We have more videos coming on chest rigs/placards, pelican case setup (deployment case), gas masks, assault packs, and more. so keep an eye out.

@@mortarmantv Then you’d want a JPC 1.0. That has the flap with 3 mag pouches. Then you get your radio and GP pouches from wherever. Alternatively, Ferro Concepts Slickster with the elastic cummerbund because you can shove whatever in those pouches. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything with *everything* put together from the factory because the name of the game nowadays is modularity. It means you can truly get a custom piece of kit, but that means money. I have gone through two entire plate carrier setups before settling on the one I have now and I’m still planning upgrades/ tweaking things here and there. My one bit of advice that I have for you is ask yourself what your mission is. That will dictate everything else. 99% of people will be fine with a regular-ass sandwichboard (JPC 2.0/Spiritus lv119/Ferro slickster/FCPC) and a basic bitch placard (Esstac I swear by, but you can go for Spiritus or Haley too). After that, you go out and train. Find out what you’re missing, what can be moved, what you can take away, etc. It’s all individual, so you have to find what works for you.
@FischerDefenseGroup
@FischerDefenseGroup Жыл бұрын
@@mortarmantvwith everything moving over to modularity, that’s just how it goes. The OG jpc 1.0 offers 3 mags and a map pocket up top from the rip. The gp pouches are generally easy to source from surplus stores for a good price. The radio part is tricky. With radios varying so much right now in size it just depends what your running. For example if you run a BAOFENG uv5r (most popular) in an 152 pouch it’ll sink in and swim around. you’ll never see it, or just fall out and yard sale your radio from a low crawl. So you need to find the right pouch for your radio. Jpc 1.0 sounds like it’ll give you the most bang for your buck. Hope this helped.

This is just a personal opinion, so keep that in mind. The avs attaches to harness on the shoulders, and on the rear area (the back). To ME that is sufficient enough to hold the plate bags to the harness its self. In my opinion you don’t need to run shock cord through the plate bags. It might pull the bag a little closer to the harness. But I’m not worried about that. By running the shock cord through just the harness, I’ve found that it lets the harness expand a little more and move relatively freely allowing for better motion and expansion for breathing, bending, twisting, etc. Again, this is just my personal opinion and preference.

the straps are used for the PTT currently. If you look in the description, there is an adapter from AXL that allows for micro rigs/placards to be attached on the AVS. Relatively easy install as well. Hope this helped.

Appreciate it man, we’re working on getting a couple more videos out. Looking at bringing in some specialty people in the near future to talk further on certain subjects. Thanks for the support 🤟🏼

@@FischerDefenseGroup Absolutely. I run the AVS at work and absolutely love how you have arranged yours. Gives the AVS justice for it's potentials which are unending.
