Chris, I don't normally leave a comment, but this time I am, because I am begging you to turn this into a proper series.

Oh, the foundation. That's a classic and still a staple of the sci-fi genre. Hope this game lives up to even a tenth of the story.

Wintermute Totally. I don't like the third book in the main trilogy as much, since it kinda diminishes the other two, but damn are they all good. The tie in with his I Robot series is also decent IMOm

The second foundation plotline was handled strangely imo, I do like how previous characters are mentioned and relevant to new developments though

Wintermute It felt completely unnecessary, and detracted from the exploits and core of the rest of the story. A Deus ex machina where none was needed.

Dodo The original three that were published close together, the other ones you are talking about came some 20 years later. Google "The foundation trilogy" and you'll see quickly which three I'm talking about.

As a gamer it sort of sucks that I haven’t heard of this game. I played FTL and yet this didn’t pop up in the “you might like/recommended list of games. Glad to see it here otherwise I might not have known. It definitely looks interesting and I’m always looking to jump into more of these types of games. This series is seriously great. I’m loving all the games I have seen so far. The ones I know, the ones I have heard of, but never played, and the ones I didn’t know about. Looking forward to what comes next.

Chris, if you haven't read Foundation, you should. It is very short, and really top notch. Asimov was one of the giants of sci-fi for a reason! I'm salty because I lost my original Foundation novel in a plane. I hope whoever found it had a great time reading it
@SargBjornson

Etienne: indeed! I was referring only to the first book :) Asimov's style was such that all of his novels felt super short. They almost never had slow passages!

Joe D Redd - that's Judge Joseph Dredd from 2000AD... although his get up looks a bit like Mean Machine Angel (which could be another intended 2000AD reference). As others have pointed out, Idaho is a reference to Duncan Idaho from the Dune series. He was brought back as a clone in Dune Messiah and by the time God Emperor Dune swings around he's been cloned time and time again for centuries.

Interesting game! Said it before, will gladly say it again, but what a great idea for a series Odd, and way to showcase the many awesome games out there! Don't know if you have any open slots left, but here's some smaller and great games that I haven't seen people suggest: (1) Kentucky Route Zero - It's episodic so it fits well with episode one of the series, also has a great atmosphere, writing, and mystery. (2) Three Fourths Home - Simple, but cool little game, especially the narrative. (3) Year Walk - Another simple and small game, its horror/mystery is great! The narrative is imo one of the best in video games, but it only reveals itself at the end. (4) Californium - haven't played it myself but is on my Steam "To Play" list, the style and tone seem really cool. (5) Sunless Sea - great writing but very text heavy, has a very intriguing Lovecraftian atmosphere. (6) Crossing Souls - haven’t played it myself yet, but it has a very nostalgic 80s vibe. (7) Songbringer - another I haven't played yet, but the rogue-lite and replayability should be pretty cool. Have more but I think those should be enough :--P

I thought I'd really enjoy Kentucky Route Zero and went back to trying to make it work since it would crash on my old computer. I don't know if I've been spoiled by modern pacing but I just couldn't find myself investing in anything happening. I felt it was too abstract to connect with anything and just left it after several hours.

Blockhead understandable, you have to be in a certain mood and like a solid slowgoing mystery. KR0 is one of those games that's definately not for everyone, but for those that like it, likes it to extreme levels!

Jakob P. Personally I am addicted to Avorion, it's a very addicting space game, you build your own ship with different kinds of blocks, equip weapons, upgrades and explore the galaxy. Not really a game that is meant to be played for just half an hour but though some of you might be interested.

Different Just checked it out (briefly), seems cool, it's like a mature Minecraft for SiFi/Space nerds. Don't think personally it is for me though, has all the checkmarks I'm not so hot about: Coop, Early Access, sandbox, I do like space though. But just mentioned it to some of my friends that're into those kinds of games. Thanks!

It looks great, I am hooked on the story and I can see the potential ... but the actual fighting hasnt quite hooked me yet. It looks like it could grow repetetive really fast. With FTL you could vary your stiles: Brute Firepower, Boarding, Lighting stuff on fire - and others, less drastic measures like hacking, breaches or playing with the doors. This game does not have much of that ... yet. I could see this one going the RTS-route with a wider array of ships where you combine different units for varying effects - or more drastic changes like having the fights turn-based (imagine Battles in Civ) or even play the ships like cards which would also be turn-based. Whatever they do to evolve the fighting - I think it would be important as a good story and artstyle can only wrap a fun core-gameplay but not substitute one. What I did love are the motherships duking it out over the playing field or altering the map by clearing asteroids. Im looking forward to what this might become.

Trifler500 I checked their website, and the English is pretty rough. I’m assuming the devs come from a country where English is a second language. It’s a bummer, because some of the writing seems seriously rough, which kind of undercuts the potential of the premisex

It's not their fault then. We can help them out on the forums. I created a thread for submitting English text corrections of all sorts. Of course, I can't do much until I have access to the game, but I've submitted two things so far.

It did remind me more of "the lost fleet" by Jack Campbell than of Asimov's "fondation". Still, there is much potential there!

Oooh. A mystery. Sounds intriguing. I wonder if the mystery can be revealed and is decent to my standards. May also wonder how many times this game needs to be played to learn all there is to get a grasp of that story. The combat isn't all that interesting.
