Things Jon didn't see thanks to his -1 per:asteroid fields do damage and slow any squadrons inside them, that was why his units kept loosing health when flying through them.Squadrons take the most direct path point a to b, this is not usually the best or most accurate (see the flying through asteroids) so you need to micro the flight paths.From the looks of it squads will only engage units directly next to them except for the cruisers. These seem to need to be stationary to fire their ranged weapons (why his unit did not return fire on the cruiser attacking it).His critical systems hero was stunned. Had he spent the 2 focus on healing hm, he would have handled the fire instead of needing to manually put it out.

I like the combat of this game Edit: So I played the Demo and I had two bugs in my run, one which made it so I couldn't move my fighters and other squadrons, and the second one which allowed me to just continuously shoot my main gun and it broke the game completely.

I think the combat would be drastically better if they gave you control of what your ships do and give them abilities. Kinda like into the breach. It would also be cool if the ships were just hulls a pens you could give them upgrades, custom weapons, modules and maybe even a cool paint job. Imagine ftl but you are the mothership controlling a small fleet of the player controlled ships from ftl. I think that would be awesome

FTL meets the "Lost Fleet" series. Not really seeing the Foundation books here, but then I always felt "Second Foundation" was a mess of a story that got off track so as long as it's not as boring and Gary Stu'ed a story as Lost Fleet I'm tentatively on board.
@millerpeed54976 жыл бұрын
No, as its only a single ship, and no fighters in the "lost Fleet" series. There are only escorts in the Lost Fleet series. If your talking about the story rather than the combat, than that is not similar either. Although waking up after 20 years of being dead is somewhat similar...... It still looks AWESOME though

*Okay first, a foreword! I didn't intend for this to be such a massive text wall, but I decided I'd throw a couple of suggestions and ideas out there in hopes that my thoughts are similar to yours, based on what little I've seen of this game so far anyway. Thanks~* I don't like how the grid map and squadrons seem to work currently. It looks like the developer has put way too much importance and dependence on the squadrons themselves and the amount of ship damage they can do, while not focusing at all on map layout, hazards, and especially movement of said squadrons. It's WAY too punishing that simply issuing a movement command to a squadron costs an entire focus point. They should instead make it so that issuing a movement command doesn't consume focus until either the squadron reaches its location and starts opening fire, or is intercepted by an enemy squadron, this would allow you to much more reliably chase and intercept enemy squadrons, and dodge incoming fire without punishing you this extremely. Additionally they need to work a lot on different squadron commands and how squadron AI interact with each other. Most of the time when you try to intercept or take a defensive position next to your ship, enemy squadrons will just buzz by like bees and completely ignore you while making you waste a LOT of focus points. There needs to be some kind of defend command, where you can make a squadron defend a larger area and automatically intercept and force engagement whenever an enemy squadron enters it. Imagine it like this: in warfare the best defense is ALWAYS a good offense. There's a reason that's a popular adage. Gameplay-wise, you could for example have the option to dedicate a permanent focus point to a squadron so they can set up a defensive position, which will give them an advantage if the enemy decides to attack it directly. In a 1v1 of the same type, the defense will always win so you need to be more tactical about your attack instead of rushing in with as much as you can as fast as you can. It would make for very exciting tactical gameplay, especially if they work on fleshing out their squadron AI too. Lastly, you should be able to paint a path for your squadrons. It is, again, extremely punishing that you're forced to push a squadron through a thick pocket of asteroids, slowing them down and forcing them to take damage, just because they follow a straight line to their destination and you can't afford to waste the 4 focus points it would take to maneuver them around click by click. EDIT: I sound really harsh saying all that. I didn't make it clear that this is an INSANELY fucking promising game, and just this demo looks incredibly fun. I hope you can get some words in with the developers and help them with good feedback. I would love to see gameplay of a fleshed out version of this, or play it myself even.
@thundersoul67956 жыл бұрын
To be fair, that one is really on the game. For the most part anyway, 2/3 to be exact. I can understand drones being doo dumb to live when in comes to maneuvers(although it _is_ far future, surely rudimentary combat AI could've been made good enough to not kill itself), but why the absolute fuck would frigates and fighters interpret "get to this spot" as "literally ram through the asteroid fields like the madmen you are"?

Jon this was painful to watch. Honestly, it wasn't even enjoyable at this point, it wasn't even a perception problem, it was a bad decision problem where you kept doing things you knew were bad ideas. You talk about how its rock paper scissors with fighters/drones/etc. and yet completely seem to forget and repeatedly send your fighters to die. @Ledrang6 жыл бұрын
Or maybe because like so many others Jon has the problem where windows 10 refuses to actually install updates and thus crashes whenever he attempts to, no seriously this is an actual thing that loads of people are struggling with.
@linyingyen6 жыл бұрын
uh... you know you can't actually withdraw updates for that long without having some form of cracked version, right? As long as you are connected to the internet, even intermittently, update is not optional...
@Ledrang6 жыл бұрын
Sure I can withdraw updates for that long when they keep crashing during the update process and you then have to roll back to the previous version, I should know seeing as I've been unable to actually update since fall last year due to it getting to roughly 70% and then crashing, every single time, hell even the windows update helper that forcibly installs itself does nothing too shockingly help and I'm not the only one with this problem, it's also optional when it gives you the handy-dandy option of either "Wait an Hour" "OK" or "Restart Now" or my personal favourite "Pick a Time"
