CRYMACHINA Nintendo Switch Demo Review | Upcoming Action RPG Has NieR Vibes?

CRYMACHINA is shaping up to be something special and I recently got to go hands-on with the game thanks to the team over at NIS America. This was a combination of PlayStation 5 gameplay in English and then I dove into the demo that's now available over on the Japanese Nintendo Switch eshop! Will you be checking this one out?
CRYMACHINA is an action RPG in which girls fight to survive in a harsh world. Experience catharsis as they cry, struggle, and overcome their fate.
Mechanical girls fight to become Real Humans. CRYMACHINA is set in the future, long after mankind's extinction, within a vast, outer-space structure known as Eden. Here, self-evolving, artificial life forms called Dei ex Machina operate with a single goal: Human Restoration. However, when Propator, the First Deus ex Machina and overseer of Eden, is lost...its disappearance opens a rift between the remaining Dei ex Machina. Become a Real Human to survive.

If you do grab the Demo over on the Japanese eshop, be aware, it's quite text heavy so you'll need to get through the opening tutorial and then, push through the menu based Hub location. It's not too difficult to overcome but it can have extended cutscenes!

Have you heard anything about Nintendo being able to cancel your account for using your account on multiple switches? Something about game sharing, even though I'm the only one playing my digital games I'm hearing we could lose all digital games on our account. Video was on Switchforce.

Not heard of it myself. Not a particularly reliable source honestly, tends to just pump out clickbait but I’ll see what I can find. I have 5 switches so I’d be screwed as well. Edit: seems there’s folks calling up support and asking and it’s not an issue if your switch isn’t hacked and can play the same game at the same time - it kicks you off of one so you can’t play at the same time

@@SwitchCorner Thanks, yeah I actually called Nintendo because I have 3 Switches and two accounts I use regularly, one that has a single game and all accounts are on all 3 consols. Was told there is no issue, I will also be saying goodbye to Switchforce and his BS videos.

Was close to dropping a video calling him out honestly but not sure it’s the territory I wanna get into. He could have spent 10 minutes calling them to ask but fear is good for clicks let’s face it. @@devin8367Are you talking about the original NieR game, or NieR Automata or Nier Replicant? I'm a big ATLUS fan myself... so I get the Persona love. I'm guessing you meant Persona 5? It's an amazing game... not my favorite in the series, but it's what catapulted ATLUS to fame. More of an Etrian Odyssey and Shin Megami Tensei fan. Seems like you have good taste in games. I have to say, I played OMORI early this year and even though I've been a gamer for a long, long time, I think OMORI took my top spot. Picking a second would be hard.... so many good games like the Zero Escape series, AI The Somnium Files, SMT, Persona, and tons more. I just recently got into Trails and I'm loving those games. Thanks for the reply. Nice to meet other gamers and I hope we both end up liking CryMachina!

I've never played the original NieR, but I've played Replicant and Automata and I really enjoyed them both, which is unusual for me since I don't typically like action RPGs. I loved both of them, although I had some frustration sometimes about how to get from point A to point B, but that's really the only thing about the game that was a bit of a struggle. I still need to finish Persona 5R... I played the original P5 as soon as it came out, but I haven't finished Royal yet. I can't wait for ATLUS' Metaphor ReFantazio and I hope it sells well.

Nice review, I was really looking for someone that gave a clear comparison between the PS and Switch graphics. Bit sad they resort to such heavy resolution scaling or FSR? (during live cutscenes the motion pixel action looks a lot like AMDs FSR). It would maybe have been a smarter choice to do a dynamic downscale like the many Mouso games do on Switch instead of fixing the whole game to pixel mush. Having the combat at the target framerate is crucial and you don't notice the pixely blurry as much there but the hub, the character screens and the tea party (story progression) are all static scenes and look pretty rough in low resolution for no apparent reason. Same goes for the non-pre-rendered Cutscenes.

Guys need help! I wanted this game but in witch port i like more on the switch rather than ps5... But i'm afraid during combat is all blurry image. I downloaded the demo game and it is.. is there a chance they will update it? Unlike astral chain during movment and combat is clear hd image but in the demo all blury

Combat and characters look great. The levels shown here look terrible. They just look angular, dark and incredibly boring visually.
