It is a shame FURYU has yet to master their way with combat and gameplay loop, they are really good with visuals, music and story but keep falling just short of having good gameplay.

It's kinda Aquria's fault, though. Their action gameplays in SAO games aren't that impressive either and relied more on grinding and upgrade to have an edge. Though this game's combat is actually impress me and reminded me of Chinese mobile action games.

I loved Crystar as well, but the combat suffered a lot. It always felt clunky and unresponsive to me, at least when playing the way developers intended for players to play. I found an exploit where you could animation cancel an auto attack into a dodge and repeat it over again for vastly increased DPS. That was my dominant strategy throughout the entire game, until end game for encounters that I couldn't avoid, and I avoided a lot of them. It wasn't until end game when those crazy new unlocked skills were actually worth to incorporate into a combo. It felt great, but only once everything was unlocked; but even then, I don't use everything, I only use the stuff towards the end. Obviously, I don't think that was the way the developers intended the game to be played. I'm worried this game will suffer the same, but even worse, that there's no way to make combat bearable. I'm okay with fighting the game at the start to figure out a good way to play, but I don't want to fight the game for the entirety of the game.

The combat and gameplay loop honestly doesn't put me off. I enjoyed Crystar's combat even for how limited it was, and I didn't really mind the grind of the final chapters. From what I played of the demo I think I'll be going in at a solid 8/10 experience, and it'll probably go up if I end up really enjoying it more than in the demo.
@maroXUprising Жыл бұрын
Sums about right. I doubt the grinding in this will hinder my enjoyment, the same with Crystar. Both definitely shows their flaws, but I guess this is just another instance of one of those hidden gems. Coming off of the demo, 7-8/10 is a fitting score though.

I definitely feel it's the opposite of what you said, the cutscenes feel more like intermission in between the major gameplay sections, not the other way around, this is a gameplay focused dungeon crawler with light story elements, which I actually prefer, it just suits my gaming style more, I feel like the main focus was the gameplay loop with both the combat and progression working hand in hand, there is a ton of build diversity in this title, being able to build each character the way you want, I just wish there was even more content, more characters, more different weapon types and more weapons overall and more dungeons and a higher level cap, I just love smoking some herb, putting some music on, chilling on my couch and grinding away at this underrated gem
@ireallydontcareabouthandles Жыл бұрын
So exactly like Crystar then. Well, based on the demo it seems like they learned a lesson or two from that game, but they needed to learn about a dozen. Still, it's one of the few times a story pushed me to the finish line and I more or less expected Crymachina to be a similar case. Might pick it up later on, I suppose.

I tried the demo for this game and the combat seems pretty awful. There's so many bright lights and stuff going on it feels way to hard to actually see what the enemies are doing.. The dodge feels clunky and unresponsive and the parry/block animation locks you way to much. They should have toned down the effects and made everything dodge cancellable and maybe it would have felt better to play. But definitely not getting this one after finding the demo bosses so frustrating

5:40 This is why people should give a chance to old game mechanic on modern game and not tag them as very bad game design. Video games and table games are mainly a play of logics and commands (you learn the system and his constraints while mastering the controls to progress through difficulties. Some of them even add elements of play of words and circumstances from watching tv/movies & reading books (the story & world building part).

Deep thematic story with equally compelling characters but bogged down by a repetitive gameplay loop and mechanics. So basically "The Caligula Effect". Interesting since FuuRyu released both titles. But given I like Caligula for what it was, I feel confident giving Crymachina a try.

I tried the demo last night, and while combat looks flashy, something feels off about it. Like there was a lack of weight or impact during combos. It is almost like my character was just doing attack animations, near enemies who I felt didn't have very visible stagger animations and would just kind of crumple on death. It may not help that I have been playing Neir: Automata, which isn't really fair to compare Crymachina to.

Hello, Noisy Pixel. I am glad that you made a review on Crymachina, and I agree with your statements and thoughts about the game. Additionally, I feel like the gameplay in general is boring, it doesn't feel exciting or immersive as I felt like it should have been. For example, I've played a JRPG called Scarlet Nexus, and the game itself was amazing. I wish it had another storyline or an unexpected, worthwhile DLC that would shock the fans. However, I just can't seem to bring myself around to enjoy Crymachina.

This jrpg is one of the worst rpg games i have ever played. Ive played my fair share of rpgs like world of warcraft, genshin impact, raid shadow legends, arknights, echocalypse, persona etc. But this game was the worst game i have ever played ever. The game felt incredibly unresponsive, dodging doesnt do much, controls are janky, story was boring and slow paced, bosses stun lock you to death, enemies in the early to mid game 1 shot you. Its not fun. Theres no sense of enjoyment playing this type of game. It feels incredibly restrictive and doesnt explain aspects of the game well. This game doesnt provide a good explanation of its basic mechanics and functions which is frustrating for the average player such as myself. Your basically paying for a worse version of a AAA game such as elden ring, bloodborne etc. Heavily discourage anyone from buying or playing this game. Oh not to mention you can 2 on 1 boss battles except your facing 2 of them. Oh and the amount of subtle hints that the main cast are lesbian is ridiculous. I dont dislike lesbians at all. Im all for them. But the amount of times they subltly mention it is like we dont care. It doesnt progress the narrative and it doesnt drive the story forward. Not to mention for most the early to mid game the mc goes MIA for a lot of the story. Which defeats the purpose of a mc. Its like oh boo hoo shes got a rejection response. Wdym for 4 levels shes mia?! Its frustrating so your forced to use other charecters which feel so much worse. Horrible gameplay, graphics fall short, terrible level design. I played kid icaurus uprising and i rlly wanted to play a game that was similar to it cause nintendo have not released a sequel to it. I thought this game was gonna be an absolute masterpiece. But its the worst game ive ever played. The ONLY THINGS i liked about the game was the music and the AMVs. They were peak. But it doesnt make up for the unplayable garbage the player has to go through. I bought on sale on amazon and i sent it back 4 days later. I got a full refund for it. Sooo disappointed with this game. Good genre, music and AMVs but terribly executed game mechanics. Strongly advise playing or buying this game. This game isnt for the players who dont like getting bent over the barrel and r**ed by the game mechanics. Strongly advise buying this even if its on sale.
@themainmanblaine28775 күн бұрын
I just couldn't finish it. I really wanted to finish this game and give it a better chance, but i couldn't push myself to play such a game where the gameplay is abyssmal. Mikoto feels slow for a sword user and ami shido is basically the worst part of 2 handed weapon users mixed with a glass cannon element. I DESPISE GLASS CANNONS! CANT STAND THESE TYPES OF CHARECTERS. Btw this guy is lying. ENEMIES CAN NOT BE EASILY STUNNED. IT'S ALL LUCK BASED AND RNG! Voice acting in this game feels like the va are bored out of their mind. Charecter designs are mid. Leben is the only character that i actually liked the design of, and she's the mc that goes mia for half the game. I dont like to be handheld in games, but there is a difference between hand-holding and explaining the games functions and mechanics in a clear and concise manner, which is understandable for the average player.

CRYMACHINA is undoubtedly an AQURIA production, with FuRyu providing budget and time.@@TheNrat
