In 2014 Cryo Chamber got some of the most prominent dark ambient artists together to synchronize their studios during a year of collaboration creating the album Cthulhu in tribute to H.P. Lovecraft. With Azathoth Cryo Chamber double the effort with a 2 CD release follow up. No less than 20 artists has been working for the last year to synchronize and co-create Azathoth. Reality exists because he is asleep, and dreaming it. He is served by lesser gods who try to keep him asleep, because if he ever wakes up, reality itself would be wiped in an instant. He is the blind idiot, because since he sleeps, he is mindless and unconscious.

In marvel comics, there is a phenomena called The Fault, in the storyline of the Cancerverse. In the story, a rift was created in the fabric of our reality from a bomb used to destroy a planet. Through that rift, a flood of undying creatures with seeming tentacled appendages, multiple eyes, and endurance up to the level of cosmic powers poured through. It took the highest level cosmic beings from all universes to stand together in order to defeat them. I've read many H.P.Lovecraft stories and have a few books which contain his work. I am currently going through, The Complete Fiction from front to back. Which has all his stories in chronological order from earliest to latest. One of my favorite authors. Also thanks for the info on that comic.

Cryo Chamber should produce more collaborations like Azathoth 1&2... This is by far the best continuous 2 hours of ambience out of all the Cryo Chamber collections.... I still sit and listen trying to figure out which artist is doing any one particular part...

This is one of the rare gems out there. Most of the "wow! mega-super-awesome-holy-shit-its so awesome" mixes are just garbage. But this.....this and Cthulhu......these two are truly superior. There was undoubtedly inspiration from Trent Reznor's work on the Quake 1 soundtrack. Go and listen to that as well.
