This was the first kind of game my husband and I have ever played. We loved it! I’m so glad I watched this review first. We took your advice and we are so glad we waited to do the internet part last. We really enjoyed the cipher and trying to figure out the password. It took us about four and half hours to play but the time went so fast. Thanks for the review. We are gonna watch your other reviews to see which one we should play next! 😊

That's great to hear :) Most of the cryptic killers are quite good, so you could do worse than working your way through them. Though this one here (Merivale Manor) remains our favorite. It sounds like you took the game seriously which can make all the difference -- I'm glad you enjoyed the experience. You might also try one of the more narrative NON-coldcase mystery games like Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective to see if that is also satisfying. -jesse

Thanks Jesse, Your review here and advice is spot on. We played Murder at Merrivale Manor after dipping into the first hour of you and the gang playing it live (we stopped due to spoilers) and it’s been the best cold case game we’ve played. For narrative, atmosphere and character motivation, it’s up there with the best of Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. The variety of material makes deduction even more enjoyable I think. We played this game as a family (with teenager) in 3 x 2 hour sessions over one weekend, which I feel is ideal, because it allows for immersion, group reading of material, some breaks for conversation among us and yet momentum to finish in a defined time period. Agree that folk should read all the materials in the pack before rushing to the internet. Looking forward to playing more from the series soon. Thanks, JK

Watching this review after completing the game. It took me and my girl 7 hours and we enjoyed every hour. We got the answer correct and we got every thing right to the last minor detail. It is such a fun and amazing game!

This is one of the harder Cryptic Killers, but it is my favorite (though the newest ones are similar in difficulty and satisfaction and writing). It sounds like you played it perfectly, taking your time and taking it seriously. The best of these games demand and reward such dedication. The only bad news for you is that there aren't too many of these cold case games that are as good as Murder at Merivale Manor :) -jesse

Can you play this with 8 to 10 ppl?
@COOPFORTWO8 ай бұрын
While you could technically, it would not be a good experience. You need very special party games for such large player counts.
