2 things about this episode. 1.) I love that Mark's story of walking downstairs and seeing the figure in the kitchen arch got brought up, I remember years ago when Five Nights at Candy's 3 came out and he started telling these old nightmare stories. I highly recommend watching that series, I still come back to it sometimes just to hear the stories. 2.) All 3 things they talked about in the first half of the video, Bob hearing a woman's voice, Wade seeing something out of the corner of his eyes, and Mark hearing Amy in one area of the house when she's actually on the other side of the house are all things that genuinely freak me out. I can't even pick one that's worse than the other. The edit when Bob said "Hello? Are you there?", the imagery from Wade's story, imagining the tree lights flickering between different colors and then you see a shadow go passed the crack between the door and the wall, and I can't even imagine the fear of thinking you hear someone in one room and then you realize the voice isn't coming from said room, but the OTHER SIDE OF THE HOUSE, all of those actually scare me.

I remember reading Goosebumps and they had these choose your own adventure books where you go to the page of the choice you make. And in one book in this one scenario you can fall into an infinite loop between two pages where you feel or sense something behind you and you turn around, but nothing is there. So over and over again you know something is there but you look and never see it. The books didn't really scare me but that, that stuck out to me and would mess with my head a bit. Being alone in the house or alone in the shower (shower water makes it harder to hear, minor claustiphobia like feeling) fucked me up for a bit cause of that. I had to keep my back to walls so nothing would be there.

To comment on Mark’s shadowman story, from what i can remember it is said that some spiritual creatures can be given power over the physical world through drawings of them and even put people into a sort of trance to make them to draw it. So if indeed that thing was a real supernatural being, it most likely hypnotized Mark into drawing it to give it a physical form and then once it accomplished it’s goal it simply left Mark alone and left.

@BlackViolet962 жыл бұрын
As a kid, many creepy/borderline supernatural things happened either around me or to me. One of the weirdest things that happened that I _still_ cannot explain to this day is a night when EMS was called to my house. My great-grandfather had just had a minor heart attack (he lived) and needed to be transported to the hospital for obvious reasons. At the time, I shared a room with my little brother and we normally slept with the door shut (because I hated looking into the void that was the dark hallway at night). I wake up from the commotion of the ambulance lights and boots thudding down the hallway. No big deal, it wasn't my first time. But the weird part was my door was wide open and I hadn't heard it open. It made a loud popping noise because of the shoddy paint job sticking the door to the frame, so I _always_ heard it open, even from across the house. But I hadn't this time. And in the open doorway was just a _MASSIVE_ silhouette of a man in a ball cap. I mean, his head was kissing the top of the doorframe, okay, and his shoulders damn near blocked out the light coming from the hall. I remember being too scared to sit up or let him know that I was even awake, because I felt like he was facing me, staring right at me. I don't know how I knew that, but I was validated when _he waved at me_ . Then, he put a finger up to his mouth, took a step back, and gently shut my door. I told my mom the next morning and she's like "I don't remember seeing anyone that big come in and help. I don't remember opening your door either, it was shut the whole night." Thinking about it doesn't scare me, but man does it make me uneasy. And anyone I've told the story to cannot fathom why an EMT would open a door and step into my room without a word, and leave the same way. There's no telling how long he was even there before I woke up.

I too am often afraid of things in the dark and I get paranoid pretty quickly. But I have a good advantage that helps me: My two cats. First of all, they are often up in the night so when I hear noises or see a shadow moving in the dark, it's pretty easy to blame it on the cats. And the second thing is, one of the cats always sleeps with me on my bed and she is always watchful. So when I hear or see something strange and my cat doesn't panic, I automatically am completely calm too.

Gosh I have a similar shadow person story. I had almost the same experience as Mark as kid. I was younger, probably somewhere around 7 or 8. It was somewhere between 4 and 6 p.m. (still very light out), and I was sitting on the ground next to my bed playing with toys. I looked up and on the opposite side of the bed i saw this like 6 to 7 foot hazy shadow person standing there. I felt this strike of terror and then I blinked. To my surprise I still saw it, but now it was a darker matter figure like how Mark described. Then, I just froze, stopped breathing or blinking, and starred at it, but felt completely calm/numb. I just sat there after and didn't want to leave my room because I'd have to walk over where it was. It was so weird because after I didn't feel scared necessarily, but I was confused and unsettled. I've never felt a feeling like it since then.

I would have thought I was dreaming but I can still remember how it's grip felt and I read a story on a haunting forum where someone had the exact same experience and described the... thing the same way.

Well... then I guess I shouldn't tell you how I used to move around a lot while sleeping when I was little, and many times I woke up halfway under the bed.😅😂 That is some very scary and specific sleep paralysis thing you just told. If I had such specific and scary dreams of things under my bed, I think I would have woken up panicking every day. Glad I usually had *different* absurd nightmares.🤣

One time I was half-asleep and heard someone snap their fingers three times. Just 'snap. snap. snap', loudly and deliberately. I sat bolt upright in my bed, and for a split-second in the darkness I saw the outline of a woman. I remember that it looked like she had her hair in victory rolls like they wore in the 40s. Whoever she was, she didn't want me to oversleep. It was around 6AM, and I needed to be at school in an hour and a half.

Im listening to this episode at work. I work in a 100 year old 2 story old floss mill. I'm in a large room upstairs and to get to the stairs leading up to it you have to come round the back of the building. The door is just a black house door with a slip lock on the inside. I'm an insanely anxious person, I lock that door every morning when I come in. 25 minutes into this episode there was aggressive banging on the door, over and over again. After a couple of minutes it sounded like someone was shoving it from the outside. I locked the upstairs door and locked myself in the bathroom and called my dad while being on the verge of a panic attack. What was it? My landlord fixing the gate on the outside of the door 🤦🏻♀️ paranoia is a cruel thing.

I remember I was watching/listening to vids on my phone as I fell asleep. Had the phone on a pillow beside me so I didn't need to hold it. Ended up drifting off and falling asleep. Somewhere in my sleep, I ended up coming back up to the surface of consciousness, just almost-awake, but still sleeping, and heard someone, a woman, ask in a puzzled, but very quiet voice "...So... Who ARE you?" I went from comfortably asleep to INSTANTLY AWAKE with heart-jackhammering in my chest. I live alone. I have no roommates, and it was 4 AM. And I heard the voice from directly behind me, just behind my ear. After a long time of laying there frantically thinking 'someone broke into my place. Someone broke into my place.' I realized I hadn't heard anything else after that. So I opened my eyes and looked around. My phone had turned itself off because I hadn't touched it in a while. When I turned the screen on, there was a video, paused, on the screen. I don't know how, but the Play Next feature had kept clicking over into more and more random vids, and some spoken-word video, an ASMR had popped up. The voice I heard directly behind my ear was the voice of the person in the video. Thing is, I'd heard it from the WRONG side of the bed. Which..honestly isn't news. Sometimes when I'm waking up, I'll hear a sound on one side, and it'll be actually from the other, because my hearing miswires while waking. I've had my phone ringing to my right, and reached to my left cuz I swear I hear it on the left side instead. So what had happened, what had scared the bejeezus out of me, was that right before YT and my phone paused and turned off from lack of use, this one video had had a single line in it where a woman asks "...So... who ARE you?" in this quiet, puzzled voice. And my brain decided to take that as 'someone is in your place, someone is IN YOUR BED, WAKE UP.' and nearly gave me a goddamned heart attack. An ASMR vid... nearly gave me a heart attack. LOL.

Speaking of cryptids, there is a running joke among my friends that I am either a skin walker or a wendigo. For background, I live and grew up in the north, I love winter, and have been known to take long walks (1hr+) alone at night in the woods during blizzards. I’ve gotten creeped out before on my walks (one time my flashlight died on my way across a frozen lake) but that’s where the joke comes from. Also I have excellent night vision

Every time I take melatonin I either start to hear things around the house, or I get sleep paralysis sometimes both. I remember one night when I was in bed after taking melatonin and trying to fall asleep, I heard a very clear whisper from my doorway "I'm here". I brushed it off as the tv in the living room since my room wasn't too far from it, I always slept with my door open and my parents were watching a movie. Later on in the early hours of the morning, I was having issues getting up because I had sleep paralysis as what usually happens when I take sleep medicine, and as I'm looking around my room, for a split second before my body caught up with the fact that I was awake, I saw something standing in my doorway. When I blinked again it disappeared. I would have just written it off as hallucinations caused by tiredness or the medicine, however the whole family can recount occurrences that took place in that house.

Listening to Bob talking about auditory hallucination reminds me of a time when I walked into my bathroom looking for something. Sounded like a woman was whispering right behind me. She was whispering really fast, I couldn't make out what she was saying. But in a few moments she got louder and faster in my ears. I jumped and speed walked out of the bathroom. I always felt that something was there watching me in that area specifically.

I absolutely adore SCP and everything related to it. I’ll eat that shit up. But the “Mr. Incredible Becoming Uncanny” meme, as I’ve since discovered it’s called-I just can’t. I've got a story for you. I just got out of the military and was staying at my parents for a bit and one night I woke to the feeling of someone watching me and saw something glowing white in the shape of a head in my doorway and when I looked at it, it pulled away and I thought that must have been my father but I could hear him storing down the hall, but again didn't register. The following night I was woken again by the same feeling and I looked at my door and it was pushed farther open and this thing was standing in the doorway. It was extremely pale about 6'-6'2 (based on the height of the doorframe) and had bandages wrapped around his torso. My cat, who loves to sleep on my bed, was very tense so I knew he saw this thing as well which made all the hair stand up on the back of my neck with out any idea what this thing was. I kept my eyes locked on it as I slid my left arm over to turn my lamp on which once I did this thing disappeared and for damn near 2 weeks later I did not sleep without a lamp on. Also a side not my parents house was located down the road from a cemetery.

My mom has had documented history with Ghosts and it’s confirmed by so much of my family that I wonder if I’ll eventually see her like she sees passed family. My grandpa told about a moment with her at night when she was still sleeping in a crib. Mom had an older brother that tragically lost his life when riding a bike up hill against the sunset, his name was Skip. He had a baby monitor attached to her room and he heard a lot of noise and laughter. He went to check on her and there she was on the floor of a dark bedroom, crib pulled down, absolutely no way she got down on her own. Grandpa a bit freaked out asked her what she was doing and she answered completely innocently “I’m playing with Skippy” his heart sank and he was afraid to get near her so he just said “Ok, go to bed when your done” then later on in life when my Grandpa died to fungus in his lung that no one caught my mom was having a hard time with it. I got approached by my mom at one point, she was shocked and weirded out but not exactly scared. She said that when she was grieving in her room she saw her dad (my grandpa) silently walk across the hallway passing her room.

“I had a leg out from under the blanket… I put my leg under the blanket and pulled the blanket up over my shoulders.” Relatable, even at over the age of 30 in a house full of weapons. 😂 I leave one of my feet out every night to keep my body temperature regulated. But you bet your butt, if I get an uneasy/paranoid feeling, my foot is going right back under them covers. I’ll risk sweating if it means the Boogeyman can’t grab my foot.

I want to hear more of Mark Bob and Wade's scary encounters ngl
@Fluttershys_bong2 жыл бұрын
One of my most terrifying experiences-and to set the scene, I have had many encounters that are “paranormal”? But this one takes the cake. This is exactly like Mark’s story with the luring into the room. I got COVID during first semester of my school year, and was making work up the night before I went back after a surprise attack telling me I did in fact have to do every single bit of work while out. It was around 1AM, and I’ve always heard noises in my attic. For clarification, my room is in the very top floor of my house, and there is one door in my room that just straight up leads to the attic so it’s normal that I hear noises. It’s worth noting that I also hid food in the attic so my siblings wouldn’t eat it. My stepdad had suspicions of a mouse in the attic after hearing a couple of times that I had heard stuff in the attic and so he sets a trap. I got really sad over it because a mouse was going to die and I’d have to hear them and be unable to help because my parents were already mad about me drawing it in. My attic has a stairwell built into it that leads to the outside downstairs, but it was never finished so there’s not much there. Which is why I got food up so easily. Anyways, the actual story now. I’m mid work and pretty energized guzzling down coffee, when I hear a snap. Like, clear as day kind of snap of a mouse trap. I get sad and I go to my girlfriend at the time over text and tell her abt it while I am hearing it hiss and whine and whatever the fuck else those noises were. Thinking about it then, I now realize that the noises were slightly off, and didn’t make sense, but in my moment of care for an animal, I tell my girlfriend I’m going to go help it even if I get in trouble and go get toilet paper. The hissing noises and squealing lasted for 10 minutes. And this trap was meant to kill instantly, alongside having a glue trap on it to trap them if they try to run when it snaps. I go to the attic door, and swing it open to look for the mouse trap. It is dead quiet. I remember thinking the mouse might be dead, but began to search for the mousetrap in question. I find it. And I will never have the amount of horror I had when the realization came over me a bit later. The trap was completely empty. Not even set off. No fur or blood or even the cheese gone. No mouse. I think to myself that maybe there’s multiple traps and I look around for just a second before the realization finally hit me that it wasn’t a fucking mouse. I don’t get scared easily and while it’s fun to believe in the paranormal I haven’t for some time but when that silence hit me, my entire body got ice cold and all adrenaline pumped through me. I booked it out of the attic and closed the door. I slept in the bathroom with the door locked. I don’t really think people care how it ends so I’ll leave you at that unless anybody wants to hear it lol.
