True. People are desperate to get out of poverty and aren't seeing many options, so they put the small amount of money they still have into the lottery in some desperate hope that they'll beat the odds. Meme coins in crypto are a gamble and they've been getting wild amounts of money put into them lately, yet you still actually have better odds of coming out ahead investing in those than you do buying a lottery ticket.

Pretty sure it was the first crypto show I really started watching. Ran keeps it fun and interesting while also sharing all sorts of news about the industry. He has some pretty cool guests and debates on his own show too. The other offshoots seem more niche, like short term trading on leverage, or he's got one host that is mostly focused on gaming... I think bitcoin is great. I don't have any money invested in it, but it's the best asset class available to invest in. I actually invest all my money in other asset classes, but crypto is the best. Would you invest in crypto if finacial experts said it's great, but don't invest their money in it? None of these people were shilling crypto, eventhough a few of them are heavily invested in it. This panel was actually giving real world finacial advice, not shilling projects to pump their bags.

I'm unsure if it will ever be a useful form of actual currency. Maybe eventually a sort of digital gold, or just a way to invest in a digital asset that will protect you from currency devaluation, but it might never really replace fiat currency. We'll see. Basically, if you want to keep your wealth, or even grow it, you don't hold fiat currency, you hold assets that will accumulate in value compared to fiat, like real estate, or stocks, or bitcoin... Then you can trade it back for fiat when you want to buy something, or maybe switch to digital stable coins or another crypto and pay with that.

⁠yeah that’s what I’m thinking. But the interesting thing is we have NEVER in history seen something like this. So nobody truly knows what may come 50 years from now. It’s worth a bet. bitcoin can't be seized if you practice self-custody. much harder for the government to lock you up and tell you to give them your password than for the government to just tell your bank to freeze your account. As for privacy , yes bitcoin by default is completely transparent, but you can do actions such as coinjoins so people don't know which account you control. however you can swap from bitcoin privately to monero which is automatically private and there is actually a bounty by the FBI for cracking monero which has not been claimed. Zephyr also uses the same technology as monero but using currency pegged to the US dollar via over-collaterlisation.
