I mean, you won't find that in most banks, or in casinos, and even a millionaire won't just have that sitting in a private vault, so unless it's like a piece of extremely expensive artwork or something, stealing that kind of cash is almost impossible, especially since even digital transactions of that size are heavily monitored. But even if you steal something "worth" billions, it is worthless unless you can get someone to buy it, which is as difficult with known, stolen cryptocurrency as it is with famous artwork. I mean, if you steal the Mona Lisa, who is going to buy the most famous and recognizable piece of artwork in the world when it is known to be stolen and everyone is looking for it?

The view on the difference in crimes is actually wrong in most places. If you're the escape driver and the guy doing the actual robbery kills someone, you can be charged for murder as well. You are part of the crimes being committed so you are responsible for it as well, I believe it's called "in concert". If they didn't have a getaway driver, would they have bothered committing the crime in the first place?

Definitely in the UK, it's called joint enterprise. It's been criticized quite a lot because it's been used to lock up people who happened to be in a group where one person had a knife. There's been arguments that others didn't know they had a weapon, or didn't think they'd use it. It's sometimes seen as a way to lock up a bunch of people easily. Our prisons are rammed to the rafters as it is. It's a difficult topic.

There are parts of the United States justice system that tend to be harsher on certain demographics than others, but the thing folks often don't take into account is that each case is unique. Even if two people are charged with the same crime, there are a ton of other factors that can influence the severity of sentencing. If you have two murder cases, for example: The mental state of the person accused, the circumstances of the relationship between them and the victim, the level of malice or sadism in the way it was carried out, etc. can all affect how harsh a jury or judge is inclined to be towards the person. A person who snapped and killed their abusive partner is not going to be looked at the same as someone who stabbed a stranger in a back alley, despite both being considered the same crime. All of that makes it really tricky to get accurate statistics on what the level of bias actually may be, because just looking at the charges won't really give you the whole story.

What criminals don't seem to get is that all it takes to get caught is one mistake. Law enforcement doesn't have to find all the mistakes and connect all the dots, it only has to find enough mistakes and connect enough dots to prove the criminal is guilty. And law enforcement has all the time (within the statute of limitation of course). The only way to not get caught essentially is to be a government backed actor, like North Korean or Russian intelligence. I think both Kira and the sexist commenters are wrong regarding why Morgan got less time than her husband. The jury took pity on her, not because she's a woman, but for her poor music skills; thus 10 years off. Kira, you get the comments about the women, because statistically, men do tend to get harsher sentences than women, when the two commit the exact same crimes. For all the equality espoused, US courts tend to look at women with a chauvinistic lens. Women are still seen as weaker, moire naive, needing protection and so on. That said, in many of these cases, the man was the main perpetrator and the woman was an accessory. A lesser sentence is appropriate, but the commenters probably didn't factor that in.
