In 2012 I had GTX680, so Crysis 2 was running at 60fps maxed out on my PC, but I have also played x360 version few years later and I had no problems completing the whole game. IDK why, but some x360 games are more responsive at 20-25fps than locked 30fps games on PS4/xbox one. For example GTA5, x360 version runs at only 22-26fps, but I could aim without problems, while on PS4 I had to use aim assists, because inputlag was so much higher (and PS4 version was running at locked 30fps!!). IMO in PS1-3 era games were really playable at 20-30fps, but since PS4 era 30fps feels way more laggy and I no longer can enjoy playing at 30fps.

That's a far cry from xbox 15-30fps framerate. But xbox launched in 2005 and not to mention it was 4x cheaper than my 2007 PC, so I try to look at x360 ports from realistic perspective. Xbox 360 port looked really impressive considering x360 hardware limitations, especially 512MB RAM in totall (for comparison my GPU alone had 768MB just for textures and I also had 4GB system RAM on top of that). Digital Foundry isn't the owner of the truth of how well something plays or looks. If people played Bayonetta or Crysis 2 at 30 fps on the PS3, had fun and enjoyed the graphics, that's all that matters. It doesn't mean that it's not a good game on that platform or it's unplayable. Digital Foundry has free access to all the latest tech, often takes them for granted, and loves to promote everything that's latest as the greatest and the only or ultimate way to play something. I wonder if their Achievements and Trophies profiles are open to the public to see how much they actually played the games they compare since they're also criticizing AI and gameplay besides graphics.

It's crazy for anyone that remembers Microsoft from the 90s, that they're so pro consumer now compared to their rivals, and are even beginning to embrace Right to Repair. People focus on console hardware and go to war about it, but something that will make me never touch another Sony product no matter how many cinematic exclusives it has is how massively anti consumer they are. If you so much as chargeback a purchase with Sony, they will ban your account, and you lose access to every single digital title or thing you already payed for Microsoft, on the other hand actually recommends using chargebacks if they can't remedy your issue.

Below 1080p is kinda a no go for me. On a 4k TV that's just a blurfest. On a 1080p display you can get away with it though. So imo devs should aim for: 1080p being the minimum at 60fps Or 1440p being the minimum at 30fps If either of these can't be reached at least put a mode in for the other.
