strength mode stabilises your gun, helps stop recoil.

"No use for Strength" .. Dude.. first and foremost - recoil control, you can blast of a huge number of shots with a sniper rifle with out needing to recover and re aim before diving and taking cover killing multiple enemies quickly. Secondly its really useful for that ghost playthrough, leaping over fences hitting cloak milliseconds after leaving the ground, knocking out soldiers with ease, or even punching a fucking house down to kill people inside.
@jetranger6159
@jetranger6159 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, he got that wrong. Also, in the Strength mode you can throw grenades WAY farther. P.S.: Or finish off small aliens by punching them dead. Good times... ))

Strength is useful during combat, but I just found that every time I was in combat I had to use armor mode or else I'd die in seconds, hence I found no use for it. If you're playing on easy or normal difficulty, you can go nuts and throw people off cliffs or into buildings, but on Delta difficulty, it's a completely different kind of game.

Gggmanlives Gggmanlives you mean you can't stealth kill enemies in delta difficulty? c'mon dude admit it , you didn't know how to use it
@bunkaaa8726
@bunkaaa8726 7 жыл бұрын
Nope, I play on hardest and for that VERY reason you NEED Strength to reduce recoil for the exact reason I said ; You need to dispatch 3-4 enemies in one burst before re cloaking and moving on.
@jetranger6159
@jetranger6159 7 жыл бұрын
+Gggmanlives Yes, here I agree - Delta difficulty feels quite different, it's very tricky to use the Nanosuit to the fullest, let alone perform spectacular stunts when you've done only a few playthroughs. However, the more you practice the more useful details open up in its mechanics and the game becomes much more fun as you begin to "feel" it better. Though for that to happen, you have to like it enough from the get-go, I guess. Not many people play a game more than a couple of times.

One thing I've always loved about the crisis series (particularly crisis 3) is the open ended level design, the levels are large, open areas that allow for a number of different approaches in a level. It makes you feel like a badass when you take everyone out the way you want to. I love it when this type of game design is done right like in dishonoured for example. I love it how crisis allows you to play at your own pace as well. Man I friggin love crisis

What has always bugged me about the Crysis series is they're so stingy with the suits powers. They never once let you open up and have fun with them. Games are meant to make you feel like a bad-ass, but if they're so concerned you might be OP in the game, then they shuldn't be there ever, or you earn them gradually ALA Metroid.

Yeah, Blood Dragon really felt like Far Cry at it's full potential. It's a shame the main games are always bogged down by being set in sort of realistic settings and stories. The big open environments really lend themselves to a ridiculous gun turret man with knives, moon jumping all over the place.

the first Crysis and the expansion is the best IMO, in each subsequent title they took more agency away from the player, managing the suit yourself was the best thing about the game and they took it away in crysis 2 and 3

Some pointers to improve Crysis' and Warhead's performance: * Run through the 64-bit executable (available in the GOG and Origin versions). This mitigates stutter by removing the memory limit. * Change the Vista compatibility mode in Crysis.exe to the Win7 compatibility. This improved performance for me but the game still fails to run in the native Win10 mode. * Reduce the shadow level from 'very high' to 'high'. * The game is shader-heavy so it slightly favors AMD graphics. Strength mode does have uses. I use it to punch holes in buildings and (even on the highest difficulty) for silent melee takedowns (I don't like silencers because they reduce damage). Even without cloak, you can usually run up to enemies and melee them when they're behind cover or just around the corner. Enemies on the highest difficulty are accurate and perceptive but their reaction time is still slow so you can usually run up to them from behind cover and punch them if they're close. As for the aliens, I find that it's better to change your playstyle completely when fighting them. Because they fire slow-moving projectiles, after they appear, I find myself playing the game much more like a Serious Sam game than a tactical shooter: lots of running-and-guning and circle-strafing.

What I like about Warhead is the fact that they really listened to reviews and crytics. They really tried to fix the issues with Crysis. Either they suceeded or not is not really the point but the fact that they bitten their own pride and tried to do a better game. Modern Developers really should learn from them. I know there are not many strategy games fans on this channel, but look up Total War series. They streamlined these games to shit, release bullshit DLC that even EA and Ubisoft would think twice about doing and completely ignore the critique.

Still got my hardcover copy, it's Crysis with extra cool exactly like you've said. Remember how hard it was, you were on the right track with switching powers on the fly, but there's a way to maximise the suit strategy: use armor to soak some damage but not deplete your energy... switch to strength when you take aim, recoil becomes non-existent, then stealth, reload and take it to the enemy again, aware of your surroundings and tactical advantages. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

2:56 - I found some uses for strength mode - I remember I once played first Crisis on highest difficulty and tried being stealthy by grabing alone soldier and dragging them into forest and throwing them into ground then do it again until base was left with one Korean - maybe not the most elegant way to play Crisis, but hey it worked. Other than that it helped reducing recoil to help fire with rifles on long distances and maybe jump higher - I'm not sure about last one because I haven't played these games for a while.

Despite being decent in terms of a singleplayer, the game still looks amazing and the CryEngine 2 was light years ahead of its time. It's almost a decade old and very few games have yet to tap into various visual techniques used in this game. Primarily volumetric clouding and the amount of destructible environments and complexity of flora.

@TheKproductionsful
@TheKproductionsful 7 жыл бұрын
A bit late, but it depends on what resolution and framerate you want to play games at. If you're sticking to 1080p at 60fps then a GTX 1080 Ti is way overkill and a waste of money. At 1440p60 it will crush any game out there but there will still be some horsepower that's still left unutilized. 4K for gaming is still not worth IMO. But if you want high refresh rates at 100 or 144fps then yes get a 1080 Ti even at 1080p.

The Crysis 1 games only use 2 cores from your CPU, it's those cores choking, not the GPU, hence the frame drops at key points.
@pagb666
@pagb666 7 жыл бұрын
If you're getting 30fps then it must be something else, I got a 6 year old CPU with 3,33Ghz cores paired with a 980 and I'm getting steady 50fps except for those occasions. Unless... your CPU cores have really low clock.
@excessiveworry3838
@excessiveworry3838 6 жыл бұрын
pagb666 I wonder how disabling hyperthreading would affect performance. I also wonder if technologies like AMDs XFR 2 which clocks one single core higher while underclocking the others would do for framerates. I have an Haswell e3 Xeon and it can reach 3.6Ghz on all cores, but it can also hit 3.8 on one of the cores. Crysis runs great on my system luckily.
@excessiveworry3838
@excessiveworry3838 6 жыл бұрын
Trixmay 988 The AMD Athlon 64 X2 ran 2 cores at 3.2 Ghz in 2007. CPU tech has moved really slowly since then because of lack of competition from AMD. So happy to see that change.
@Broformist
@Broformist 6 жыл бұрын
I think it's really mostly just one core. We'll have to arrive at extremely fast single core performances before we're able to play it with stable framerate at all times. More powerful GPU helps with running game at higher resolution but not much else. This game has heavier physics than even most games today and that is not gonna be solved by GPU.

Well Far Cry I can give some leeway to. The "Island of Dr. Moreau" twist was OK. Fighting higher-balanced mutants was fun. But Crysis is supposed to be about using a supersuit to fight North Koreans. The alien twist just isn't as good there. They did the same thing in Halo by mixing the Flood into the battle after you've spent so much time fighting Covenant. It's as if developers don't feel that their enemies are strong enough to carry a story.

Crytek has always had a boner over aliens and monsters but they cant seem to make it fun to fight agaisnt them. FarCry is an great example of shitty bullet sponge enemies,the tridents or what ever the fuck these things were. At least in Crysis 2 the aliens weren't bullet sponges but the stupid armor on them is annoying.

As much as it is the Crysis cliche, I totally agree as obviously do others. I have to admit I have never finished the game for that reason. I also agree about Far Cry, the Trigens were fun and added a lot of nervous tension for me. It was awesomely suspenseful to view an area before entering with binoculars and you can hear Trigens but you sometimes cannot see them, so there is a lot of suspense entering areas! (I wish they would make a Far Cry like that again rather than this other crap that isn't anything like the original)

Well for me Crysis is the game. You know everyone has that game, for some it's doom, or Zelda, half life, the one you grew up with, or had the very first memory. It helped me get my first friend in primary school, and besides that I just love the concept, how they made it and the wackiness. It's a true sandbox for me, the rope bridge in the first game, I just love shooting it to pieces, better if people fall off with it... oh and of course it helped me that as a 7 yo I didn't understand English at all but the game had Hungarian audio, omg you should hear it, it's a perfect dub. So if I had to review it, I couldn't objectively, it's just a game I love and could talk about for an hour or so. (Funnily enough HL2 was the second FPS game I played, and my father - omg the memories - so he played the first game around 2000, I wasn't borned yet, so you have to understand that it's Hungary in the early stage, we just got a PC, so he bought the game to get a copy of the pirated game, because the CD and the burning costs money but not the actual game because that was pirated. My sister and brother even my mother watched him play through HL1, you can just imagine the typical moustache with the glasses sitting at the white PC playing the old game with the wife and two small kids, in the room with the rug floor. So back to HL2, it's around 2011, dad is searching the Hungarian piracy webpage, and he founds the orange box, orange box with all HL2 episodes, he was screaming that a second game came out. He downloaded it and installed it, we played through, I was scared of the zombies - ravenholm especially - but I was good at fighting the combine, so he killed the zombies and I killed the combines... The good times!)

Most games do not look much better than this since it is difficult to make something look better than this. The closer to photorealism you get, the smaller the improvements you can make, law of diminishing returns and all that. It will take different technologies to make noticeable improvements now, i.e. How TVoEC was made, or that 'voxal' infinite detail system that Australian company invented. Those are probably the way forward, plus maybe performance capture. Or go for style over realism e.g. Super hot.

Never use armor, because it sucks...your energy dry! Always have either speed or stealth activated. The moment armor mode drained your energy, you are basically done for. The amount of time it takes for your energy to regenerate, is the time your position is either swarmed or blown to pieces by overwhelming grenade fire.

Warhead absolutely did run better than the original game. I remember being able to run it at max and get playable framerates while the original game would float around 20FPS and I had to keep it locked to medium on my contemporary computer. I remember looking forward to Crytek backporting the optimizations into the original game and then they came out with their "too many people pirated Crysis so we aren't going to patch it ever again. :^)" press release. It still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth after paying full release price for the game (over 100 dollars in my country). Sticking up the middle finger to your paying customer base to spite pirates isn't logic I can really follow but okay.

I do love me a good expansion. There are some good DLCs as well but they're few and far between. It looks fun, I have to try it sometime. I'm guessing you missed reviewing this game when you were doing the Crysis trilogy a couple of years ago?

I remember being kind of disappointed we couldn't take the new guns into the old campaign, considering how short the campaign in this was. :b

First of all, the performance boost was huge with lower settings. I remember playing Crysis1 on High and Medium and being able to play on Very High with much better FPS. As for difficulty, I fully agree. Dying so easily was not a problem when you had the whole jungle to play with, but I wanted to cut my wrists on that fucking train...

What kind of CPU do you have? The Crysis games have certain points that get very CPU intensive where it doesn't matter what kind of GPU you have you'll need a great CPU as well.

I do agree that CRYSIS games difficulty and AI aren't as perfect as first thought. When I run a Crysis game I play on the hardest difficulty level possible. The nanosuit still makes you more powerful than them simply because they can't hit what they can't see. You're more likely to die by accident - or falling.

Joke aside, l really enjoyed Delta difficulty on Warhead, except the jeep defense second level. Just know when to back off and cover and you'll be fine.

I guess for research valve to know when the games came out. I have this habit to record everything, and date it on when it came out for nostalgic purposes. Just like how KZbin posts the dates of the videos we make. Also, with those release dates, it has other games that came our during those release dates during the years.
