This may sound odd at first, but Menimemo licking the pencil is not a weird thing, at least for the late 19th century, soon to be 20th century. Pencils back then had different composition, so licking the tip was a necessary thing to make dark marks.

I may love the relationship of Susato and Rei and that Susato taking the Defense Lawyer's position in the court, but the Turnabout of the Blossoming Attorney is indeed the most brain-torturing moment of Resolve, because of Menimemo's whole character. But this is something normal of the Ace Attorney Series, almost every game has a bad case, is occasionally and conveniently the same thing with Danganronpa that is mostly the Third Case to be the worst.
