I appreciate Crystal talking openly about having a nanny, and also her husband having had a nanny. I'm a nanny, and I've been with the same family for 8 years! And it feels publicly like sometimes nannies are hidden away and pushed to the side because parents feel like they have to be a superstar, getting everything done on their own. Parents are people too, not just caregivers. I wish it would be more normalized that parents can take their time for themselves and not be bullied for not wanting to spend their every waking moment for their kids.

Love how Sam is trusted and respected as a player and friend and, as such, get the best and the most honest answers from those she interviews. Two things I miss from before, however… the Dyson on the wall behind her, and the “crunch”😂

I definitely thought at the end she was going to ask for a chomp!

Great to hear from Crystal. Looking forward to see how that Gotham team gels this year. The new background memorabilia is great! The carton of Goldfish is iconic.

I am so enjoying this new venture. Great guests and I am loving the English players interviews so much as a WSL fan. I am so proud to see your growth as a media personality, am biased as I am from Massachusetts as well. You are killing it, thank you for my weekly foray into to all things women’s soccer, what a pleasure.

I must say that Sam has demonstrated without any limitations, that she is the woman for this role. It may still feel early in her career, but I feel she has demonstrated her long term skill potential. A major leaguer, without peer!

Love Crystal! So glad to have seen this interview! Thoroughly enjoyed the discourse especially motherhood, her experience as a woman of color in the league, and prioritizing player safety. Superbly done!

Sam! I am so excited you are doing this podcast. I was sad when I heard Snacks was ending but this almost makes up for it. I still miss you and Lynn’s banter, maybe she could guest host sometime? Also excited you will be at the opening NC Courage game, I am a season ticket holder and excited to celebrate you and your amazing career 🎉 wish you all the best!!

Crystal Dunn is the Paul McCartney of the USWNT - taking on the defender role is kind of like taking on the role of bass player: people on the outside might think "oh, they're playing defender/bass because they're not good enough to play guitar/keys/mid/forward", when in fact the whole team/band will suck if the the defender/bassist is not really great at that role (and like McCartney, Crystal can excel in any other role in the team as well and that is part of why they are so great in the defender/bass role)

Why should anyone be ashamed to ask for help? But especially mothers. You can't do it all on your own. I am pleased to hear that Crystal did ask for help, and people did, and do step up. There are a lot more mothers in professional football than ever before and being a mother should not stop athletes from playing at the highest level.

Crystal is so right, for example Arsenal should be a super team and with all the additions and players returning, they look out of sorts. Whereas West Ham players that was brought in looks like a better fit.
