She was born Brenda Webb, her older sister Loretta (Webb) Lynn was one of the true country pioneers and Loretta is credited with giving her the stage name Crystal Gayle. Loretta was pure country in her music, Crystal Gayle's style was a mix of country, pop and R&B and she definitely charted her how path in music. Both very successful artists. Incidentally, they are also cousins of another famous country star, Patty Loveless.

It was always so hard for me to imagine Crystal growing up in "Butcher Holler" with Loretta. She has hardly any accent whatsoever. But boy could both of these beautiful women sing. Great reaction guys. Love you both so much. ✌🤗

I've always enjoyed Crystal Gayle's voice. She is a great country music singer & is the younger sister of Loretta Lynn. She is known for her floor length hair. She had a lot of hit songs in the 70's-80's such as "Cry Me A River", "I'll Get Over You", "Wrong Road Again", Ready For The Times To Get Better", "Talking In Your Sleep", "Half The Way", "You & I" etc.

Her beautiful cover of a Tom Waits song “Take Me Home” from the soundtrack of the Coppola film “One From The Heart” is two minutes of total bliss.

Greetings from Texas! Thanks for your content. At about 4:08 in your video y’all mentioned pink colored glasses, there is a country song called “Rose Colored Glasses” by John Conley (I think). Anyway it’s a great song talking about this exact topic. Keep up the entertaining videos and maybe share some culture with us. I love to learn!

Crystal Gayle comes from a Country Music background; her older sister is Loretta Lynn. DIMMBEB is considered a "crossover," to become a popular music category hit, a distinction and achievement for a Country Artist. A Great Song and A Great Vocal Performance. :)

Actually she was kind of a 2-hit wonder. Her only other song that made the BIllboard Hot 100 top 10 was "Half the Way".

@@jessieball6195 right, I was thinking more along the lines of fan interest. People who actually liked her and thought she had more hits or songs they would listen to. So maybe I should have worded it differently.

Not 1997. This was 1977. I remember when it hit the UK charts - I was still at school getting into Pink Floyd.

Such a good clap back at the lyrics, friends. Unfortunately, it's a great song but these types of songs tend to fuel that kind of behavior as well. We listen and feel our souls churning and then we also get caught up in that type of 'woe is me' attitude. If someone chooses to treat you like that, and then doesn't 'repent' and ask for forgiveness, _the best thing that can ever happen to you is to let them go_ -- it hurts but that just shows how big your heart is, and that it is well worth giving away to someone who actually deserves it.

I don't know, "found someone new" could mean she's admitting ... she left him, treated him bad, and when he moved on, she realized that she made a mistake. If that were the case, and IS the way I understand she explained it, he was in the right, and had no obligation to wait for her, especially since she did him wrong. Remember, she said she did, and he didn't know if she would come back. I think this is a confessional song, and she is begging him to overlook HER transgressions, not excusing him for his !!!

This song is actually closer to jazz than it is to country music. In fact, Crystal Gayle was considered a "pop" singer (unlike her strictly-country music singing older sister, Loretta Lynn).

You missed the end which tells the story of the reason he found someone new. She was very, very bad to him. EVERYONE misses that. Probably cheated (its country music, KINDA she was really more Jazz to me like Patsy Cline)
