Dillon, my mom sent me this asking if I knew you. Of course I recognized you from high school. We weren’t friends. Not even acquaintances, honestly. Just two kids going through the motions in a school where drug culture is prevalent. With that being said, know that you didn’t deserve the abuse. Know that you are WORTHY of sobriety. Know that you WILL recover. You still have fight in you. You are NOT your abuse. You are NOT your addiction. I am still on Facebook if you ever need anything. I have confidence that the universe has good coming to you-never give up on yourself.

He’s so sweet. His father really did the worst things possible by hurting the dog and his son in those horrible ways. It blows my mind there can be such darkness in the world. I’m sure the father had a miserable childhood as well. I wonder if the anger and sadness will surface when Dillon gets clean and works through his trauma. I pray you meet someone to help support or are put on the path of getting clean by your own determination. Be the parents you never had for yourself. A loving father and protective mother. 🙏🏼💗

Any chance of a success story? my apologies if you have a few but I have not seen any lately. I was a heroin addict in Thailand for 15 years, I did anything to get it including robbing drug dealers and other crimes. I Completely changed my life and now own 2 houses and 2 farms growing fruits and vegetables with my son and wife! Im not saying I am better than anyone, but man, If I can do it, it can be done! Many addicts don't make it but the ones that do, need their story told to offer hope to those who are stuck in the cycle.

@@bam_bno9079The universe aligned for me and my boyfriend, we was homeless then decided to move away from the people and drugs. Both got jobs at this place where these people took care of us, rented us a house. People gave us everything we needed for the house. We slowly started getting cloths and phones and anything else we needed when we got our pay checks. We got our kids taken away so we had to fight to get them back. We had weekly drug test and classes. We finally got our children back and have been sober a little over 2 years. There’s still places I refuse to go and I still don’t have any friends lol. I know it’s not gonna be that easy for everyone we just got lucky. But I do know if people just take that step and get clean great things are gonna happen. I was addicted to meth, pain pills, Xanax, etc.. Knowing that addiction is a disease helped me process the shit I did to people..

People use drugs to feel good/normal & stop the internal dialog for a while. Thoughts and memories can create feelings instantaneously. Chemical reactions happen in the body and mind.. People can make you feel good/ bad by how they treat you & the memories tbey create. People are like drugs.. Drugs wear off, Thoughts create feelings, communication styles matter. Authoritative communication is an abusive style. When it comes to disciplining a child, use conscious discipline. Keep them calm so you can deliver a message. Some people act as if emotions are weak or non existent, they'll never understand. People are social creatures. We need another person, the right kind of person.

“I would have taken care of myself how I would have wanted someone else who I love to be taken care of.” he has so much emotional intelligence. it immediately struck me cuz that’s what they teach us to do in therapy, to take care of ourselves the way we would take care of a friend or loved one, which is such a shift in thinking… for me at least.. made it all the more powerful when he said that.

Through this channel I’ve continually seen an eerie amount of young people, specifically middle-class people from all around the country, who say they’re in this situation because their families sent them out to California for rehab. I’m not sure if the issue is the parents dumping their kids like trash, toxicity of the rehab centers, or a combo of both, but there is a major common issue here that we as Americans really need to address. Like, these kids have been so screwed over.

Mark, first, thank you for your vision and hearts work. I’ve watched you now for probably close to 2 to 3 years. I can’t help after watching this video of this young man who is old enough to be my own sons age that at the 15 minutes, he gave a powerful response to your poignant question. He said that he was never loved as a child. I can’t say that all of us are a success even if we are loved in our childhood, but, I believe an addict or not, we are all in tremendous need of pure, unconditional love as infants and children and that can truly shape the rest of our life as a dependent and then independent person. I realize this is not the reality and it’s clear as a result, there is a high price to pay. I hope for the love that was lost in his childhood, this beautiful soul will be graced with love from others and,in some way, most importantly, develop the love for self.

I'm sorry, but the fact that he is blaming his dad for his drug addiction is kind of weird to me. He was using drugs BEFORE his father sent him off to rehab. He had meth in his car before these issues with his dad. That is the problem with a A LOT of addicts. They are coddled to believe that they aren't doing anything wrong and they are just reacting to their trauma, but the majority of cases are just like this...they started abusing drugs, their parents tried anything they could to stop it, and then they turn around and do even more drugs and then blame it on other people. I was an IV heroin addict for 16 years, and once I finally sat down with a therapist and realized that I was blaming other people for my own addictions, was the day I decided that I had power of it. No 12 step bullshit, no fucking bullshit meetings...just hard work and introspection. I wish these kids could learn to take responsibility.

It's incredibly sad to see these young people struggling. This kid is smart and has a good head on his shoulders. He has a positive mental attitude. There's still time for him. I've been where he is minus the homelessness. I had alot of childhood trauma because of my abusive father and was using all kinds of drugs when I was even younger than he is. I've been "California sober" (weed and occasionally alcohol) for 12 years now. If he reads this my bit of advice is find a hobby. It helped me alot. My hobby is reptiles and I've had that obsession since I could remember. Had my parents supported that passion it would've saved me a lot of trouble and them a lot of money for restitution when I was a juvenile. When I got sober I picked that hobby back up again. Hobbies are expensive and they keep your mind of the next fix. You won't have money to spend on drugs. I hope these young people get better. I just wanna see everyone win man.

Yeh this young man is in better shape mentally than I was at that age. I sometimes think the commonly accepted addiction treatment model creates a victim-of-the-disease mentality that only works like 10% of the time in keeping people sober. Sometimes just thinking of how much money one would need to live every day as a drug addict is enough to stop. Seriously who needs that amount of money for such a crappy life? I am just thinking back to myself, here… it was ridiculous. Lol anyway good luck it’s gonna be hard and the world is good! I am you and you are me.

Mark. Seriously. I'm very worried about your safety. You've already been robbed a few times and I feel like you have used your extra lives. I know you're moving from the studio, I hope something doesn't happen before that. I really feel very strongly about this. I LOVE what you do. The interviews are such a gift to the wold, I don't think you really know how important this is for people to see. There's so many people I wish would watch your videos, the only thing I can do is to let people know my opinions and try and influence others to watch as well. Especially those who need it the most. Those who believe addiction is a choice. Those who mean being homosexual is a choice and it can be treated. Those who believe all men buying sexual services are horrible people. Those who mean abortion should be illegal. People who believe they k ow it all but have never seen or met an addict, a prostitute, a trick, a transgender or people with issues and struggles. As I said, what you do is so amazing and important. All the hours of work you put into this, that's just unbelievable that someone will do that just out of good will! People these days are so egoistic and self-centered. Very few does anything without getting something back. So you're a real special person, one in a kind, and I'm so grateful for what you do. Thank you so much for your endless work on these subjects. I really appreciate it. From the bottom of my heart. However, I don't want the ending being you getting seriously hurt, or shot and killed because of these stories. Please, I feel so strongly about this right now. I'm so afraid something is going to happen. Take care of yourself, Mark. We're so many people who love you. I'm sending the most positive vibes I have right now. Loads of love from Norway!

lene instead of putting your worry into words, and putting it out in the universe as a possibilty, instead say (because mark is an adult and knows what he's doing and is walking the talk), say you are hoping and willing for his continued safety so that he may continue his work.. the whole part about you feeling like something bad is going to happen is YOU not mark. do not put your limitations and fears upon him. keep YOUR fears and YOUR limitations to YOURself. it's all that norwegian black metal u be listenin to.

Yes, Mark is an adult. But still he's been robbed several times. And experienced some real scary things. Now a guy was shot on his doorstep. Mark might very well have been there when that happened. He could've come out of it without a scratch. He also could've been shot dead himself. Being an adult doesn't mean you're invisible. The people he's around, the places he's frequenting make him so much more a target than if he'd been interviewed white, rich people. I didn't know it was a bad thing to worry and care about people. If I had the power to stear other people or faith with my words, like you believe I do, I'd probably written something else, don't you think? Also, I don't listen to Black Metal.

Hey Mark, I was just wondering if you’ve been getting burnt out on finding what the true drug of choice is for your interviewees and if that’s why you’ve been mislabeling the titles or what’s been going on because he’s clearly not addicted to meth as much as he is fenty. You could just put poly substance addict interview for pretty much everyone now.
@baublesanddolls
@baublesanddolls Жыл бұрын
I highly doubt that Mark cares what anyone's "true drug of choice" is, or he's getting burnt out over it. That's not his purpose, as he's more interested in their story and how they ended up where they are. I'm pretty sure that he puts whatever drug they tell him they're using in the title and doesn't give it another thought.

I totally agree! I think it would be interesting to hear the success stories of those that have had similar problems / issues. I love hearing people's stories but I can't help but to feel a little against the message mark is trying to send out . I studied anthropology and we are taught to not place judgement upon others or their lifestyle no matter how you feel about it. I understand drug addiction is not something to glorify because we see the same patterns of people being lost / hurt / traumatized but at the same time , they need more than just hey don't do drugs kids. It won't solve your problems . We need more positive voices that have made it so others can learn how to help themselves and find strength to heal.

Human beings should not be living like this, they shouldn't be out in the cold, they shouldn't just be left to die. It's a stain on everyone that we let this happen, it's so fucking appalling. I know life is cruel and random and pointless and everyone is out for themselves etc but it's evil that such a wealthy country leaves people to rot. It's not their choice!
