Great sir, in conlcusion we can say; while interpreting SEM analysis we must use the term "particle size" and in the xrd and TEM interpretation we must use the terms crystallite size/grain size! If otherwise, it will be wrong?

In TEM, the grain size is common, while in XRD , crystallite size is more common, and it also deals with particle size. If you look into TEM image, it contains grain of different sizes and they are separated from each other with boundary called grain boundaries ....

how crystallite size gives peak broadening in xrd pattern? I could not find an explaination in book.

The Scherrer’s equation explains that the smaller the crystallite size, the broader the XRD peake. Single big crystal gives a sharp peak. Now, when you decrease the size of the crystal, the peak gets broader, which means less sharp.

Atoms or molecules are the smallest ... These atoms or molecules combine to form particles, grains, or crystallite ... If we talk about ultra-thin film with size 1 nm. This means that the ultra-thin film is made up of a few atomic layers.... It proves that atoms are the smallest and particles are made up of atoms

I think better to use TEM in order to see particle size. SEM can not see deeper details. I have made videos in TEM

nicely explained, but you said crystallite size and grain size are equal in the tem image, then how will it be different i think this will be the same for all cases. so for every sample the particle and grain size will be same? you should have showed on tem with crystallite and grain size different.

I think it may be due to the different atomic radii of the dopants and the host element. You have to check the atomic radii of the both then you can draw a conclusion about the increase or decrease crystallite/ grain of the final product.

@@qamarwali Sir I have same question. I doped CeO2 with Pr and La. Both Pr and La are larger than Ce. But the crystallite size decreased (using Scherrer equation). I don't get it why, may you explain? Thanks

Oh my God...if we do SEM for a bulk pellet, we say grains are found and it is grain size. If we crush the bulk pellet into powder and perform SEM we call it particle size. Is my view wrong sir? Please clarify

@@qamarwali A particle is composed of grains, grains is consist of singly oriented lattice planes. which can be observed by HRTEM. with SEM, one can only see the external morphology, and you can assess the particle size, but it is not useful in all cases,
