Crystalluria by sulfonamides and effect of pKa

Sulfonamides are used as antibacterials that may produce crystalluria as one of the side effect as they are precipitated at the acidic pH of urine. This can be minimized by many approaches among them structural modifications is one of the important aspect which adjusts the pKa of individual sulfonamides.
