Long tall Sally in G is EXTREMELY hard to sing for most fully grown men. Little Richards version was in F. Paul’s vocal control and energy are just so admirable. He’s also playing the bass at the same time 😫😳

RIP to your father Crystal - he sounds like a wonderful man and we are all poorer for no longer having him with us. My condolences to you and your family. I am pleased you are turning to Beatles music to help with your healing. "Yes It Is" is one of their most underrated songs, and the feedback at the start of "I Feel Fine" was the very first use of intentional feedback in a pop song. Your reactions to the music were spot on as usual! You are a treasure so I wish you godspeed with your healing. Peace,

When The Beatles left for Hamburg, no one knew who they were. When they returned to Liverpool after playing 6 hours a night their first gig was at Litherland Town Hall. They launched into Long Tall Sally and the crowd rushed the stage so fast the owner thought there was a brawl. Word soon got around about The Beatles.

I suppose "Long Tall Sally" shows just how much Paul admired Little Richard. "I'm Down" is Paul's attempt to write his own song in Little Richard's style. The "peaches" stanza in Matchbox wasn't part of the song as Carl Perkins wrote it. Also, Ringo messed up the first/last verse (it should be "I'm sitting here wondering, would a matchbox hold my clothes?") but it still manages to work. (It was harder to find song lyrics in 1964!)

"She's a Woman" is an upbeat song -- but filled with 7th chords, which are endemic in blues. John LOVED discordance, dissonance; if he can find a place to play a 7th he'll do it. It adds grit, edge, a sublimated rough aggression.

"I Feel Fine" is the first Beatles song I can recall hearing, I think in the family wagon as a four-year old. It planted the seed of what would happen a couple of years later when I bought a used copy of "Help" and latched onto "Ticket To Ride". I've been in love with that style of pop since.

Long Tall Sally (Key-G) is that Beatles rarity where both John (1st) and George (2nd) each have a guitar solo. I Call Your Name is the 1st new original song recorded after the Beatles Fen 9 1964 Ed Sullivan Show(s). George uses (for the first time on a record) his brand new Rickenbacker 360 -12 string guitar. A guitar he frequently uses on their mid summer 'A Hard Day's Night' album. The first 4 songs on PM's side 2 were from the EP 'Long Tall Sally released on June 19, 1964. Personally I believe I Feel Fine represents the crest of the Beatlemania wave world wide. It's a fantastic record, which includes Ringo's homage to Ray Charles' song 'What'd I Say. 'Yes It Is' is a remarkable B side (Ticket To Ride 4/19/65) I'm Down was recorded in only 2 takes. The record released was a hybrid of both versions, edited together halfway through the 2nd solo, before the outro. You're in my prayers Crystal, RNB (I've been there)

The Beatles have music for everyone and have a soothing rhythm and melody for any pain. Your father teaches you how to swim and carries you forward and when you are ready lets you go. Now you have to swim on your own into the adventure that your own life will be. You honor your father by remembering his lessons, advice and character. We all carry the voices of past masters in our head whether a father or a Beatle, Something is one of those great healing songs. Check out Avonlea and drummer Sinna's version, it is quite pretty.

You can definitely hear the evolution of The Beatles sound from the early days to the next phase of their career. “I Feel Fine” was definitely a shift in that direction. The middle part in “I Call Your Name” is one of the first sounds of ska. Lennon thought “Yes It Is” was a poor rewrite of “This Boy”, but I disagree. I think it’s better, more complex, and I love “This Boy”.

Listening to this and knowing how young they were you have to give credit the way they sang their asses off. No fear.. they just went for it all out. And fortunately for them and everyone who appreciates it, it worked. This is their earlier material where they were not nearly as experimental musically but vocally it was just balls to the wall. That's not easy and they did it song after song but almost make it seem easy.

I think it is amazing that there are so many 'reaction' videos to the Beatles by young people. And their reactions tend to be one of respect and love for the Beatles. It is always wonderful to see their first reaction to songs such as 'Eleanor Rigby' or albums such as 'Abbey Road'. And I agree with this young lady - the Beatles music can be a wonderful medicine for mental health issues.

I love how you're noticing Ringo's rockin' drum performance on "Slow Down"! Love those fills. The original version by Larry WIlliams has great fills from the great Earl Palmer; Ringo does completely different fills that are just as effective and rocking. Ringo rocks just as hard on "Long Tall Sally". Ironically enough, Earl Palmer played drums on the original of that one too, and once again, Ringo plays it completely different, taking a more "thunderous" approach. Watching your face during "Slow Down" was priceless! I'd have loved to have been at the 60s beach party you described!! :D

Your editing of the music has improved immensely from the beginning. I must say it went from not good to totally enjoyable and able to accent your points on harmony or instrumentation or lyrics. Your work improves with each video. Well done. I also offer my deepest condolences to you at this time. As someone who also lost my dad you will always miss them but you always have the memories that will never go away. My best to you and your family.

'She's a Woman' only goes to prove that Paul's statement of 'John has the best right hand in the business' was correct. The rhythm playing is just as metronomic as Ringo's drumming.

You picked the right time to react to the genius of the Beatles. They’re music has a healing quality to it. I’ve leaned on them through the years in my darkest hours. They’ve always shined a light on me, and helped me through it. Sorry for what you’re going through, thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I lost my Father in May and your video’s of your reaction to my favorite band, helps me get out of my head and actually enjoy something. I thank you for that.

When you have time and are in the right frame of mind, Crystal, check out the movie EIGHT DAYS A WEEK, a 2015 documentary directed by Ron Howard that covers the Beatles' notable live performances from their years as a touring band. Never before have general audiences been able to see and hear the Beatles perform live better than in that film. The highlight is their 1965 performance at Shea Stadium in New York City.

Crystal Hope you’re doing fine, and your world has became a new one, that one that your father always want for you. I recently found you and your Beatles Reactions and it’s been a wonderful surprise to me - actually, a present - see and hear your thoughts about each Beatles songs. Love the way you scrutinize each part of the songs. Love the way how you interact so deeply with them. Love the way how you easily show your feelings (as in “She’s leaving home”)… And love when you appear without any make-up in video. You are so beautiful naturally, congratulations!👏🏻 Please, keep up making the world happier and full of love!❤️

"I'm Down" was the B-side to the "Help!" single. The Beatles closed concerts with it in their touring days.

All my family members are gone and it’s just me. I’m okay with it now. Once the feeling of loss is gone in it’s own time you will have the many smiles and joy of the memories you had with your father. Stories to tell others. That’s what keeps them alive and never gone. Peace, Love, and Healing to you Crystal.

The hardest part is almost over, healing takes time, and small projects like this one will help. Beatles were all about love and sorrow, but here comes the sun. Thank you for sharing your heart with us. Now can we go to the sock hop?

Thanks for your usual enjoyable video…I hope it helps a little to know, although I obviously don’t know you, you strike me as a positive, upbeat, optimistic person, and I believe and hope you’ll move past this shadow of darkness to a brighter, better tomorrow…this music has been a companion, an advisor, and a joy to behold and ease me through uncertain times, and I hope you find the same comfort. My best young lady and I’m confident you have the tools to help you navigate forward!
