Hello! Thank you for the video! I have your patches collection for the DeepMind, and those are among the best available. You have a Blade Runner patch there as well, it's even in the demo on KZbin, and I can compare them online. How would you compare them offline - which one is closer to your opinion? Currently Arturia has again a great discount for the V collection, and I am trying to figure out whether I really need.
@Digiphex4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay. I think the CS-80 V is much closer but I could get 80% of the way there with the DeepMind had I used the aftertouch. I don't think I made use of it I can't remember and also making use of both the low and high pass of the DM. I should revisit that patch and improve it!

Same for me. It was fun trying to follow along. I noticed at 11:17 that the 1 and 2 Yellow preset buttons were in and tried that and got a similar sound. I also tried manually copying every slider as seen around this same time with (yellow buttons un-clicked) and got different results. There is a look at all the settings at 12:48. Experimental learning! :^()

@@Digiphex The layout is now an exact replica of the original CS80 so all of the HP, LP, Link buttons have been removed. Trying to recreate this on V4 and am not able to get the exact sounds out of it so far. Do you remember if this was running through a reverb in your DAW? Thank you for your quick response.
@Digiphex10 ай бұрын
@@TimMoorez No it still has high pass and low pass filter. The link was just a way to get both layers on the same settings. So to duplicate my patch, somewhere in the video I say here is the completed patch, just copy this, so you will copy those settings I have on layer I to both layers I and II. The main idea of the patch is to detune one of the two saw waves a bit and you will hear the classic phasing of the CS-80, then to use the aftertouch pressure to get some LFO wobble and high pass a bit if you want. A very simple patch that you can tune by ear to sound like Blade Runner. I don't remember where the reverb is from, yes probably from Ableton.

First off, nice work. That is one of the most seductive sounds. What was playing the backing pad, the DM12? Do you have that patch or tutorial available, if so? I have a DM12 and was thinking of selling it in favor of the fantom I have. I got close to your patch on the fantom but it takes a lot more screwing around to make it perfect. I wish the Fantom had the modulation schema of the DM12 (and all the effects as well). As you know, the DM12 allows you to layer them all on top of each other, maybe that's a bad thing, ha!
@Digiphex2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I don't recall what I was using here but the Fantom should be able to do it easily. I think I could do the entire Blade Runner soundtrack using only the Fantom. I used to have the 88 key version some years ago but it probably hasn't changed much, except now I think you can model the classic Roland synths.

@Digiphex4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps there are not 2 saw waves both running through 1 filter with LINK button? About 12:15 I show all settings. Just make sure that is what you have. It won't be a sharp beginning because you can see the A slider (attack) is almost halfway up. Down would be a short and sharp attack like you are saying, and up is long attack very smooth. Probably 1/2 of your signal runs through the II section filter because you don't have the LINK button on?

Finding a working CS80 is a difficult task. There aren't many of them, and if they need repair, the custom chips are also extremely rare. One replacement chip can cost about $1000. If you are lucky you might be able to pick up a Yamaha CS80 for $22,000.
