This particular video didn't really pertain to me (I have a 04,' C5, vert.), but watched it anyhow, and still found it informative. Thanks for this video. I have both door panels off on my '74 Coupe awaiting replacements. Sure enough, the panel at 2:20 in the video is missing on both sides. Driver's window is problematic. Surprisingly the passenger's window works fine. I will be calling you soon.

Thanks for another very informative video. Quick question. My C3 power windows works, but only just. I found that someone had removed the plate that covers the motor and they were in a box of stuff that came with the car. Could that be the reason the windows struggle to go up/down? Also, how to mount the plate? Do I need to take the whole inside face of the door and just use tiny nuts, or does it just use steel screws without nuts on inside?

You will need to remove the door panel to access the mounting surface for those plates. Once there, use short sheet metal screws to attach the plate to the door. That plate keeps the assembly from shifting inwards, and while I cannot guarantee that this is the only cause for your window issues, it is certainly part of it. Lyle

Great video. I bought new regulators but... 1) the mounting holes on the regulator do not align with my door's holes... 2) all the rollers are stiff. 3) at the middle point the rollers back hits a nut in the regulator. Is there any good brand of regulator. The ones I got, brand new from a major Corvette vendor, have a decal warning about the stew not being removed... Thanks

I just had to fix my drivers side regulator on an 85. about 25 years ago the plastic band broke and my mechanic put in one that looks like the 87+ one you show however it was different in that there was an auto slip system to I gues prevent the window from being forced and the mechanic had put a screw or something in it to prevent it from slipping. Well that screw broke and the window would not move on its own any more, I opened it up and put in a rivet where the screw or whatever had been there. It would be great to know all of the points that need to be lubricated throughout the car to prevent the binding that breaks parts. Thanks.

My 84 window stops about 4" short and at that point just "clicks" like its jumping on a track or gear. Any idea without replacing the entire assembly?

How are the 89 to 96 vette window regulators adjust the tilt of the window. Hi have a 1986 that some one install the new style regulator. My window is hitting the the hard top rubber really hard., because of the tilt of the glass. How can this be adjusted? Thanks! Bob F.

Please help my find that plastic insert for the c3's door panel... I've been recently looking at that area to diagnose my power windows and install new lock cylinders and I dont have that piece that you said you need to keep the window from binding when its down.. I have a 1979 c3 l48, thank you for the info!!!!!!

Can you help diagnose why the passenger side of a 93C 4 window has trouble going up and down while the driver side control for that window works flawlessly could be as simple as that window switch on the passenger side door?

Jim Slade well speaking of fuses. Does the 74 need any special fuse? I’ve looked in my manuals and I just can’t find anything. And on the rear differential fluid and transmission fluid. Any ideas?

I have a 1986 Corvette Coupe. I believe that someone put a later model C4 Door on the the car . The back of the glass when closed raises to high and the door has to be slammed to close. Is there an adjustment on the later type of regulator to lower the back end of the window. Thanks!! Robert F.

Robert: If your roll the window 3/4 of the way up and can physically rock the window front to back in the door, then you have a 93-96 door and and your front window guide is broken. $20 part and readily available. Lyle

When the later model system is not functioning is it recommended to replace the whole unit or the motor if the motor has failed?

If it is an original unit, I would replace the whole thing--same amount of work either way. Lyle

I have a '84 C4 so my question is if was to change my original window Gearing to a upgrade 87+ window gearing is it compatible and easy to put on? Or do u need to modify the mounting?

Hi Don! You will need to drill a couple of holes in the bottom of the door, but mostly an easy replacement from that point forward. Lyle
