Side note on shotgun shells, a quick way to know roughly what kind of ammo was used can be identified by the crimping on a spent shell, if it's wrinkled looking or like a crown at the opening then it was multiple pellet shot either birdshot or buckshot, if the opening is smooth all the way around that's a roll crimp and more than likely the round used was a solid slug, it's not a guarantee but 95% of the time it will be the a reliable identifier

Speaking of pistol cartridge casings, if you look at the primer dent it is sometimes possible to immediately identify the type of firearm it came from because of the backpressure inside the casing pushing material into parts of the gun. Glocks will leave a rectangular raised shape around the striker dimple, and the S&W M&P series will leave a teardrop shape.

Nickel plated, ammo besides duty use could be a alleged citizen self defense shooting, lots of people carry small 9mm handguns and choose to carry any number of specialty hollow points.

9mm Parabellum is the proper name of the caliber. 9mm Luger is a 9mm Parabellum loaded to standard pressure. 9mm NATO is a type of 9mm Parabellum that is 8:40 loaded to modern military standards and is a slightly more powerful loading than standard pressure (AKA 9mm Luger). 9mm +P is probably (most likely) but not necessarily a more powerful loading than 9mm NATO. It can be up to 10%more potent than standard pressure (9mm Luger), but not every manufacturer will push the envelope that far. For this reason, it can be argued that 9mm NATO is a type of +P round too, and technically, it is but it's power levels are more strictly defined than the generic +P designation which is somewhere between 1% to 10% more powerful.

I load my own 410 and 12ga shells. Some slugs use fold crimps, some shot charges use roll crimps. Some slugs set inside shot cups and some buckshot use felt and cardboard wads no shot cup.

21:59 palmetto state armory has 5.7 Rocks for sale for under 400 all the time. That’s less than a new Glock. Range bullets are 43cents a round which is only a bit more than 9mm depending on what you shoot. Cheers

At 11:55 that's a 357 magnum casing and not a 38 special casing...357 is a longer casing than 38 special...amd 357 mag and 44 mag are approximately the same "length " (casing)

Great video - I'm surprised you didn't show casing made of Aluminum (Blazer) or Steel (Tula) ammo, as these ammo types are by far the least expensive. These are not shiny like brass. These are going to be often found in 9mm, .223, and 7.62x39. It's ammo intended for training purposes, known for not being reliable, so if you find it on a crime scene it's indicative of someone who has no idea what they're doing with firearms, the opposite of a nickle casing: they don't know anything about self defense. I would presume this was the cheapest gun a person could get on the street, almost certainly bought illegally, and very likely a juvenile.
@Razor-gx2dq6 ай бұрын
Yeah steel case is dirt cheap, I don't even bother to buy it for training purposes anymore, maybe its just the batch I bought idk.
@KahshinLiu6 ай бұрын
Yeah, i too was surprised by him not showing the most likely rifle round (7.62x39) at all or steel cased 9mm ammo. But its a flat out myth that steel case ammo isnt reliable. Only in poorly lubricated AR-15 pattern rifles & budget handguns is steel case ammo not reliable. Ive put nearly 1000 rounds of steel case through my budget AR & my first time bringing it out it jammed alot. Then we soaked it with CLP, it broke in & it now feeds several mags without a problem. My duty pistol ate many tulammo & wolf without one malfunction. In AK's & my SKS i couldnt tell you how many steel cased ammo rounds ive fired over the years.... Easily thousands. I will say that steel cased .38 spl in revolvers is truly a terrible idea. tldr; ive personally been present at shootings where guys with Dracos fired steel case. They work

You should go get the velocity book out and check out 12ga, 16ga, 20ga, and 410 velocity. You'll find the velocity is the same for all of them --- around 1250 fps. The difference is in the weight of the shot . You can every gauge in the same shit size just lesser amounts in each.

I'm sorry but ALL police officers on patrol carrying a firearm or investigating a crime scene should be very educated and familiar with firearms, it shouldn't have to be learned by online videos on their own time, but this is a very educational video good for training, also something to touch on as far as old casings is brass tarnishes, dulls, and discolors over time, so if you find a casing that's brown/black it's very old, at least a few months old, these are just for brass cased ammo, however you can run into aluminum, steel, and zinc or nickle plated casings so they'll tarnish differently over time
@freefieldtraining6 ай бұрын
I agree. But, then again, in an ideal world we wouldn't need police at all so here we are.
@ksrebelbuck79366 ай бұрын
@freefieldtraining no I'm saying departments need to be funded more so they can train their officers on these things, it's nothing against your video or anything like that, it's what the federal government has been doing to departments

Thats one of the reasons its overrated...it also isnt much more ballistically superior than a .22 magnum fired from a carbine...would you be satisfied with that energy level and ballistics to stop a "determined " opponent? I wouldn't
