The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) impressively reduced its combined sewer overflows as the first step in achieving the ambitious goals outlined in MMSD’s 2035 Vision, which includes achieving zero CSOs, capturing the first 0.5 inches of rainfall through green infrastructure, and ensuring zero homes are within the 100-year floodplain. We can learn from Milwaukee as we seek to end sewage discharge into the Charles River.
