The comments here are all positive and those of us from Opelika are very thankful to know such a humble human being. He walks the streets of Opelika, Alabama today and you would never know that you are walking beside a hero such as he. You can google this story and find just how amazing he truly is.

Very true, he’s so humble, from what I hear he never talked about this stuff. He’s a humble soul

My mom’s dad was friends with this man and my mom knew his kids. He did their taxes his entire life and they never knew about any of his history, he didn’t brag or really talk about it. Such a humble man. RIP Sir.

Long overdue. He is the epitome of an SF soldier along with all of those young men that fought that thank less war. I hope we never treat our troops like that again! My beret is off to all of the recent and former recipients of the MOH. Thank you

What are they waiting for to celebrate this hero with a movie showing his heroic deeds? Let's talk about one of the greatest military that the USA has had !!!

I'd love for this man to get a respectful movie showing his actions, just like Desmond Doss.

Probably awarded the Medal of Honor sooner than the VA could get him an appointment.

without a doubt. those at the VA that cooked the books/appointments should be thrown on the front line. maybe they can get a taste of their own medicine when they're injured and need care from the VA

Very true. Not to share his personal business but he lived a very humble life. One of his kids is a doctor but he himself lived in a mobile home in my town and did taxes as his job after all of this. He deserved a life of luxury after this, or at the very least decent healthcare. He passed of covid recently. So sad.

As a guy born and raised in europe (poland) I honestly think it's such a pity that we so rarely hear in our media, about exceptional Heroes as this noble, courageous, and devoted to his brothers in arms man. Instead we are fed with numerous stories about "florida men"; as they venture to the very limits of human stupidity, etc.. Please! Each and every one of you should remember to tell the story of this man, whenever you travel abroad.. PS: I'm sure that Sergeant Adkins is right now a toughest mf amongst the angels :D

I cried, what a HERO! War has never been the need. "LOVE" is the need. Division, and HATE, has taken so many of all HUMANS! :-( Was it me or did Obama look like he needed a NAP! BUGGAR !
