He played a lot of chess in china when he was younger, but stopped to go to university, at the time his coach said he would be around 2400-2500 fide rating. This is a fairly normal situation in China in general. Kids pick up a thing that they study really hard, either because they love it or being forced by parents, with the only goal being to be good enough for a top college. Since the standardized test is a one shot opportunity it has a lot of variance. And being exceptional in something is one way to circumvent that.

They kept switching from game to game to game; we as wievers couldn't keep up, and lost interest. They should have picked 3-4 games, and stayed with them. The live-chat were full of people that were just begging for them to return to the big players (i.e. the Magnus games, or others), If you want to make it spectator-friendly, we need to be able to follow the developmwnt on the boards. When you have an unrated player to complete in a U2000 category its called cheating. Its legal but it's unethical and unfair. FIDE must change the rules period. Only rated players must be allowed to compete in these events. That's my take. And Ju wenjun said they have a secret weapon. Everything was planned. Bending the rules only shows disrespect to FIDE and the other players and teams.
@thinboxdictator67204 ай бұрын
So which categories of tournaments would you say unrated players can join?
@FarCrySource4 ай бұрын
@@thinboxdictator6720 any category based on the guess the ELO evaluation. That's why the ELO measure is so good. It's a very close approximate of the truth. Because it's not that he hasn't played any tournaments. He hasn't played fide rated tournaments. And he has also played a lot online.
@thinboxdictator67204 ай бұрын
@@FarCrySource I understand that you're thinking about this specific case. Maybe it could be applicable to that one situation,fine. but it's not realistic for applying in general. online doesn't count and shouldn't count,for otb. those are just different animals. as for when they are rated in their national federation but not for fide,there would have to be some equation for every specific federation to approximate their fide strength,to get them to "correct" category. like USCF - 200 or something like that,but even that would be just a rough guess (and it might be different after the recent fide ratings
@FarCrySource4 ай бұрын
@@thinboxdictator6720 btw hybrid tournaments count for fide ratings, just to clarify this.
@thinboxdictator67204 ай бұрын
@@FarCrySource Your point? Are you addressing the "online and otb shouldn't mix"? Obviously when there is requirement to be somewhere physically,playing under supervision on specific accounts in specific time, that's a bit different than what is usually meant by "playing online", don't you think? Yea it's weird outlier, but you seem to think that special cases somehow prove something wrong in general. My point was, that there is no way to reliably check what specific player is studying,on which accounts they're playing,what coaching they're getting .. online. People are already playing on multiple accounts on multiple platforms,so if they want to play in weaker category than their strength, it wouldn't be hard to show "low performance" account anyway. On top of that,when you're playing otb tournaments,you really don't want people to know your online account, because that makes prep against you easier,so one more reason to not give chess federation account you're actually using. That's one of reasons why it's unreasonable to ask from any chess organisation to use online performance of unrated player, to get them to play category that is around their strength. Unrated was always included in the lowest category in a tournament, because that's where it fits in general.

@@davidbarnett8617 my response was removed because I called you a mean name. You have no facts or evidence for any of what you are saying. Zero. And to condone bullying on the scale Magnus created is a terrible look. By the way, are we just going to pretend that Magnus hadn’t lost a match just prior to causing all of this? You think that’s purely a coincidence and the logical reason is Magnus wanted to expose cheating in chess lol. Surely not him being heated and losing his cool so he cries foul play after losing a game against Hans. Which by the way, Magnus emotions are understandable because of the deity status people like yourself see and treat him as. It’s a lot of pressure. The issue is that he took advantage of having blind fools like you who will say anything without context or evidence and condone the bullying and hate which ruined a teenage boys life. Hans was forced to endure mass harassment and hate, of which none is warranted and entirely are based on lies, and was even blackballed from tournaments. He has never cheated otb or otherwise and to try claiming that a 16 year old version of him who made mistakes should be crucified and removed from the community is absurd. But what really bothers me is you seems to think Hans would have no reason to act out or seem like he’s a bad guy. How would you behave to a public that has thrown you aside and labeled you a cheater for some online games you did at 16. Would you come across as a nice guy when the entire community makes anal bead and personality judgements on you any time your name is brought up? You think you would handle dealing with that for years in a community you spent your life working and honing a skill, a community that then jumped on a bandwagon of false allegations, simply thrown to the wolves. Would you seem like a compassionate nice person in interviews from that same community during such a situation? Such ridiculous claims by Magnus and such an awful interpretation by you. Grow up.
