Fabi is brutally honest. He's my one of my favorite player. We can sense he was pushing to win against Gukesh in an equal position. Great thing about Gukesh is he seems to have a good game awareness and team match awareness. Like lot of champion players he knows when to risk and when to push and when to draw. Looking forward to more fights b/w old guards and young ones like Abdur, Keymer, Aireza , Gukesh, Arjun, Prag, Sindarov etc... Next decade of chess looks very Exciting

that just dumb, fabi intentionally put himself in risky position to create winning chance because draw or lose doesnt make any difference to the team, he need to win. Its not like he doesnt aware the line he chose. If this is individual game, fabi already went for a draw with black because pushing for a win in that equal position under time pressure with black is simply dumb. He basically just gamble at that time since every black move need to be precise unlike white.

I didn't like the attitude of the US team- China's attitude just deteriorated by each round. - Either it was laidback approach or Fabi had a lot of burden. Probably that's why went reverse psychology mode to go offensive against Gukesh, who was in new skin after shedding away his last ounces of stress against Wei. - Wessely cooked pragg hard that pragg couldn't make it a draw, or was relaxed after the China match. Arjun finished his match the last against aronian- kept at board3 bcoz of what Fabi "implicitly" said- bad at stress handling. - Vidit was consistent with bermuda party recharge😂- was forced by Team Captn to steam out the exhaustion which Fabi mentioned. (Doesn't seem like that Fabi was there at the party) - Looking fwd to a Fabulous play by Caruana in November.🤘

Wonderful, guys. I was waiting for your Olympiad analysis especially because I wanted to see Fabi's state afterwards and I'm glad to see it's pretty fine. :) I know he was disappointed about that game, it was obvious, but I was also hoping he wouldn't take it too hard on himself. And yes, unfortunately all those difficult games before the game with Gukesh had an impact on the tiredness, the pressure falling on a few of the team is exhausting in time. Why would Fabi not show up for an individual medal if he had got it? Why, Fabi? I understand you would be feeling bad about the team not winning, but it wouldn't be your fault the team is not winning and you winning individually. You shouldn't consider you have no right to be glad about winning something individually in this case. What, do you think you have to "drag your team to the podium" in order to feel entitled to receive your individual prize? You are not the only one in the team, that's why it's a team work. You know what Wesley said now before the last or the penultimate round: that he was feeling he has to try harder and get a win so as not to let everything fall on your and Levon's shoulders because it's not fair. You saw that, right? This is the right attitude and mentality. I know you are very conscientious and hardworking, this is you and those are some of the reasons I (and others) admire you for. But you have the right to be happy about any victory you might have. It's not like you stole that prize. If you win it, you deserve it. If you win it, go and take it. :) We all love you. Ah, that cap! I almost didn't recognise you. :)) All that hair gone. I'm glad I saw you with a cap also, in case I ever see you in any airport, to be able to spot you. :)) Hugs from Romania, Cami.

I disagree that China is a tier down from Uzbekistan. China were in second most of the tournament and Uzbekistan had to win on demand to surpass them while China only needed a draw in the final round. They ended up with the same points, along with USA, but got the medal due to tiebreaks. So I'd say they are in the same tier, to say they were better during the tournament isn't indicative of what occurred, especially when in their head to head China beat them, even with Ding not converting his winning position. China was this close to a medal, but... another heartbreak for Ding Liren.
