csssa animation app + tips (accepted!)

i made this video after i got accepted because i cant face rejection aaaaa
anyways this whole applying thing has been a rollercoaster. i never thought that i would get in considering how competitive csssa is but here i am! animation is something i've always wanted to pursue, but never had the training to do so. im so incredibly excited to spend the summer learning how to animate with so many talented people!
if you are applying,, pls don't let the result mess with you! so many talented people are rejected but csssa doesn't determine their worth! there are so many opportunities out there, csssa's just one of them

I really want to get in to CSSSA and I think I have the drawing/technical skills pretty much down but I haven’t really animated before. If it’s ok to ask could you give me some advice on animation? What programs did you use and how’d you edit and everything? Anyways I really liked your animation, it stood out from a lot of other applicants, it was really interesting to look at and I love your style and the colors! I hope you had a good time at CSSSA :)

Hello! Im not OP but I did apply as well last year. Even getting a lightbox and some printer paper to animate is a great start! Claymation or even paper cutouts is all welcome by CSSSA. IF you've never animated before, thats okay! Csssa just wants to see if your at a good level and have the persistence to really dive deep into animation at their program. I know a handful of people used Procreate, an app on the ipads, drawing feature, and some free programs you can find online for PC if you do a google search. As for tips, I would search up the 12 principles of animation to get you started on the dos/donts of animation and some tips to help you. Happy animating!

Hi, ive recently started animating and i suggest you research squash and stretch and slow in slow out and frame rate (i think 24fps is pretty standard) because those are some of the things that contribute to how smooth and natural your animation comes across. As for programs if you have an ipad i recommend procreate. They just added an animation update and it is incredibly easy to animate in app. Compared to other ipad apps, with procreate you can create separate layers for colors and merge them and its amazing. If u want to see what procreate animations look like search up meppity on YT because she uses procreate for all of her animations.

Hey so I watched your video and I was completely blown away by the sheer amount of skill you have! I was wondering what materials you used for your a-c assignments... I'm hoping to apply to CSSSA next year (2021) hopefully if a vaccine is found by then and everything is restored to normal.... I was also wondering: Do you know when they usually give out (the date they give out) the new application requirements??? Is there some sort of email you have to subscribe to or...?

They usually post the new application requirements in December, and the due date is around February.
