Hi, Can you please tell how you have arrived on those parameter values?
@alphonsosamasius70157 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I am currently not designing vivaldi but this is very informative on how to navigate through CST features. If you wouldn't mind I'm asking, why do you use PEC instead of copper in the modelling?
@tensorbundle7 жыл бұрын
Alphonsos Masius Alphonsos Masius Copper's conductivity is so high it can be regarded as PEC or perfect electric conductor. You can use copper but simulation results are 99% similar as those of PEC.

i have seen them please i need your help am working on MIMO antennas for UWB application using CST i need a guide please
@adamujabire366 жыл бұрын
My question is for example if my frequency range is 1 to 12GHz then in the field monitors which values should i suppose to insert and for CST there is no solution frequency how can i deal with this kind of situation? thank you
@tensorbundle6 жыл бұрын
Yes, in CST, it has no solution frequency like HFSS. But you will insert the frequency points in far-field monitor at which you would like to observe antenna's far-field patterns. Say, out of 1-12 GHz range, you are only interested at 3,6,9 GHz. Simply add these three in far-field monitor.

What does the values of 0.05, 1.1, and 3 mean?
@tumieengineering59084 жыл бұрын
So, 3 = lambda/2. Where lambda = c_ /f_0, c_ being the speed of light, f_0 being 50 GHz. the 1.1 is slant rate in the trace curve where y=se^(rx), where s = 0.05. I am not sure how s is calculated but when I find it I'll hopefully remember to let you know.

Sir,will it affect the antenna performance if we use radial kind of feed in microstrip to slotline transition?
@tensorbundle7 жыл бұрын
That "radial" structure is called radial stub.. it is perfectly fine to use it

thanks a lot, can you show me the tutorial or picture for feeding the Sma Connector to vivaldi antenna above ? i try to realize it for 2.4 Ghz Freq
@tensorbundle7 жыл бұрын
In this design of vivaldi, you don't need a CAD model of SMA in CST to connect the microstrip line to SMA. "Waveguide port" takes care of it. Once you fabricate the vivaldi then you have to electrically solder the SMA connector to the microstrip line. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3rbkmt7i8R5eLM

I have the problem that my substrate is too thick (h=3.18mm). Do you know how can i use a SMA connector in it? Thanks, Very useful your videos
@tensorbundle7 жыл бұрын
If you use microstrip as feeding line in your antenna,you have to use pcb mount type SMA connector. in that case thickness(3.18mm) is too high for the connector's supportive notches to fit properly with your substrate. How about changing feeding mechanism? Try to use thru hole mount type or panel mount type sma connectors
@Ferproko7 жыл бұрын
I found a SMA connector that is proper for my substrate. The only thing that a i have to do is to snip the two grounding pins, that are in line with the central pin, so i can solder only the central pin to the microstrip. Do you know if it's necessary to simulate the SMA connector in CST?
@tensorbundle7 жыл бұрын
Outer conductor of coax is actually in connection with SMA's ground pin nothces which we solder to the ground plane of antenna. If you snip out the two ground notches of SMA that means you are disconnecting the ground plane connection to the coax as well. SMA's four supportive notches not only provide them mechanical stability but also connects the ground plane to the outer conductor of coax. Don't snip them off, that's incorrect.

Thanks for your videos! They were very usefull. We actually made the antenna, using your videos as starting point. It works pretty well, S11=-33db at 2.5Ghz, VSWR=1.05 at 2.5Ghz, and BW=1Ghz, that are values that we measured with an network analyzer. drive.google.com/open?id=0B_RECWkkPaD-bUpOTFNDeVpRbXM drive.google.com/open?id=0B_RECWkkPaD-bmdZZWhtR3pVYms
